Ok Live, here we go...our new home LOL!!! I'm really glad you went to the info session, i knew you would get more info actually being there. Were there other students that were on the waitlist there? What 1/3rd did jaquie say you fell in? It is good news to know that they make it through most of the waitlist! I really want you guys to get in so we can have a connection with other people...i hate walking in a class and not knowing anyone LOL. So do you have most if your prereqs completed and was manch your first choice?
Hey LngbrdngOtr... Are you going to go to reg. early wednesday? They kinda made it seem like it was gonna be a bit of a blood bath lol!! I do have a favorite choice so Im not sure how early I should go. Let me know what your thoughts are.
The website shows the slot for nursing students to register as 4-6 if I were you I'd be there by 3 to get in line with my forms already filled out and a second form filled out with my second choices so you don't have to waste time filling out a new form if your first choices are already full. If you have different information on time frames then apply the same principal to that timeframe. Good Luck! I hope you get the schedule you want.
I just have a feeling this is going to turn into black friday LOL, i mean everybody is going to want what they want for thier own reasons ya know. There are 10 choices that they put together that contain a lab and a clinical. Everybody goes mon and thursdays 8:30 to 11:30 and mondays 12:30 to 2:30. Clinicals are 2 days a week for only the first or second 8 weeks (there is one that is every wed and one that is every sat also) The clinicals are either 7 to 2:30 or 2 to 9:30. the labs choices fall every day of the week in the afternoon and another one friday AM. This is the only semester we get to make part of the chioce, each following semester will be assigned. So even if you dont get to start till later in the summer and are just assigned a schedual, you wont be that far behind us because it will be the same for everyone the next semester. Oh and each section only has 4 or 8 "slots" and first come first served, so we will see how it goes. We also get to but uniforms tomorrow, which are nicely updated this year. The pants are white with a flair and the yops are green with white piping around the v neck which continues off to the edge of the chest of the shirt. It also has a tie in the back for a more fitted look. I was pretty happy with the change from the usual box style. I really hope you guys hear something soon, I didnt click with anyone at orientaion and i feel like we all already did so it would be great to see you in the fall!! :)
I'm going in tomorrow to sign up for classes. I still havn't really figured out what I want to do yet though. If you pick the 7am-2:30pm clinical's you have to fight with the morning commute crowd and highways may not be too fun. On the other hand the 2-9:30 clinical's arn't too much better because then you have to drive at night. Then you can either rush your clinical's and do the 8/31-10/13 one and be done by mid october giving you the rest of the semester to study for finals, but at the same time it might be overload in the beginning of the semester. The 10/19-12/1 would allow you to adjust and learn some stuff before clinical's but then come finals time your going to have less time to study because you have clinical's.
Theres a lot to think about, but in the end you get what you get. Regardless of when your doing clinical's you'll still be working towards your goal of being a nurse and thats all that really counts. It's not worth the energy though to worry about not getting the slot you want, its summer time and we need to enjoy it while we have it and believe that things will work out in the end :)
I am so excited for all of you. Just to lift your spirits, we had one girl get the call that she was in on the Friday before classes begin. They gave her a left over uniform top and she started clinical the following week, and she is graduating with us next week. I was at Greenbriar the second half of first semester, and it was a very good fit. In hindsight, I would have just as well preferred to have done it the first half, as their is A LOT of paperwork to do. So having that out of the way would have left more time for studying later in the semester. Our class was the first class to have clinical two days a week for half of the semester. There were mixed reviews...
It is very much worth my energy to worry about the right schedual! I have two little children and a husband who works full time, so It is very important for my 1st semester to be an easy transition for everyone involved! It is a very hard choice and next semester we don't get to pick so just one semester of "the best choice" would be great! So i'll be there a little early tomorrow since we can buy our uniforms too, very exciting!!
Congrats Nicu RN to be!! Have a wonderful time at your pinning and graduation next week!!

I thinking if there is any changes they will be after the 12th. We go to register on the 12th and if people decided it wasn't for them at orientation, Im guessing the school will realize it when they dont show to register. Sorry the wait is so long!!
