Ok Live, here we go...our new home LOL!!! I'm really glad you went to the info session, i knew you would get more info actually being there. Were there other students that were on the waitlist there? What 1/3rd did jaquie say you fell in? It is good news to know that they make it through most of the waitlist! I really want you guys to get in so we can have a connection with other people...i hate walking in a class and not knowing anyone LOL. So do you have most if your prereqs completed and was manch your first choice?
Just be careful what you guys post, keep in mind that they can hop on and see what everyones writing x3
I did think of that hope I haven't said anything that would have me looking less than desirable. I don't believe I have but you never can tell how others will percieve the written word.
FYI guys! A friend of my went to Manchester's open house tonight and talked to an advisor about nursing. The advisor said there was 1000 applicants this year. We should all feel pretty good that we were in atleast the top 100 of the pool!! Congrats to us all! Also I was lucky enough to get ahold of some of the nursing books for cheap money, and let me tell you its only about half and i had to carry them in two trips haha!! some are 2000+ pages, we will be getting quite the work out from them, and we will all need wheel barrels to cart them around :)

I take a class at the school on Friday evenings. When I go in early I see the nursing students on their way out. Most of them have rolling suitcases instead of back packs for that very reason. That's what I plan to get when the time comes to save my back.
Thats too funny, makes good sense though! I weighed the books i got, its about half the list and they weigh 60 pounds. One book alone is the thickness of 2 cereal boxs +. Im starting to get a little worried about my organizational skills and keeping all this stuff straight. I know its early still but all i can think about is if I should by a binder for each book, or each subject. Do i bring my lap top to class? What can i read now to get started...and about 100 other questions!! Yikes!
Once you get your schedule set on the 30th you'll have a better idea of what days you'll need what books. As far as what to do now...threads that I've read suggest relaxing and taking the summer to enjoy life because you wont have time for one when school starts. Others suggest brushing up on A&P facts and skimming over books but not getting too involved.
Julie-Have you heard anything yet? I called the school last week and found out I'm one behind you rather than in front #6. I know I should stay positive but with the initial orientation for those that have already been accepted being this Friday I'm starting to feel like it's just not going to happen. A lot can change in a matter of weeks though. I've been surfing this site trying to see when/if those on the waitlist heard and the only thread I could find was from two years ago. A girl who was at/near the end of the waitlist got her call on May 3rd that's keeping me going since we are not at the end but close to the top of the middle. Just when she was about to give up hope the call came in.
I emailed Jacquie yesterday but she's out of the office until May 3rd. I know what your saying about flip flopping between being hopeful and being sad that it's not happening this year. I'm greatly affected because I have hired and am training my replacement at work and my boss is planning for me to not be there this fall. How scary is that?!? I wanted to be fair to him in the event that I do get in but may have screwed myself in the end. We'll see. I'll let you know what I hear from Jacquie unless you know of someone else I can call to get some kind of answer before next week.

Oh My! The pressure is double then for you. Let's stay positive. I feel (today anyway) that we still have a very strong chance of getting in. People are still making up their minds about different offers and though I was told it doesn't typically happen, I'd be willing to bet that a couple of people paid their deposit but wont make the orientation because they've chosen another school and in their excitement forgot to let MCC know. Also there is the possibility that some may not realize what they are getting themselves into until orientation and decide to give up their spot. Being #'s 5 and 6 I think we still have a very good chance of getting in.

Jen,
It's so stressful waiting and not knowing. Of course those threads would infuriate you. I'm looking at it as, the wait will make us stronger and more appreciative of being there in September. Hopefully we will know soon :) Give Jacquie a call...you will feel better.
