Malcolm X Fall 2016 (CCCSON)

Published

Hey Everyone,

Long time lurker here!

I made a promise to myself. The only way that I will ever make an Allnurses account, is when I apply to nursing school. Well, that time has finally arrived, and I just finished submitting my application to the City Colleges of Chicago School of Nursing. I clicked on that submit button like a boss!

Good luck to everyone who applied.

@Yini- did you get additional information for someone in the nursing office? I'm want to make sure I have not missed any emails subsequent to acceptence letter.

No they haven't sent anything to me. I just did everything listed on requirements before time. It tells you where to get your background check and I made sure I had all my shots . I already work at a hospital so I'm sure it's all the same required ones. For the drug test Quest Diagnostics does it. My friend is already in the program as of last year and she had her drug test done there. I just want to have everything ready before time. But no I haven't received anything did anyone here did?

Okay got it. I hear you, that is what I want to try and do as well! Thanks for sharing!

Did anyone get accepted into the nursing or Lpn program and not complete all co requisites?

That's a good question. I'm curious too. I do know it is not required that they are completed, but must be completed by the third semester. There is a gentleman in my A& P class that is entering his third semester of Nursing, so I guess they do accept students who have not taken them.

I scheduled my Cpr at the CPR Associates place for 2nd week of august. I also seen Quest Diagnostics do the drug test too. I want to get everything done now but dont want it to be a waste if its not the correct ones.

I'm curious....the CPR was part of my CNA course. Is it not the same for all CNA courses?

Specializes in PACU, pre/postoperative, ortho.

Apparently not? What boggles my mind is the cost of taking the class. Where I am, a local college system promotes everyone learning cpr & their instructors will hold AHA cpr/first aid classes at no charge if they have at least 6 people sign up (just pay for your card). My sister is an instructor & gets contacted to renew for groups of daycare providers, fire/police dept, larger employers, healthcare workers, etc. Every yr, classes are held at local high schools for the kids to be certified.

Strange. I just did the program with City colleges last summer and it included both CPR and first aid.

Does anyone know where we are meeting for our orientation? Hopefully they send us some information. I emailed but as of yet no response.

Received a response and as of now they have no information about the orientation. :(

I'm not surprised. How do you NOT know the room number the orientation will be in A WEEK before the event? I really hope things get better as we continue with the program.
