Hello everyone! I wanted to start this thread for those of us applying to the Malcolm X College ADN Program for Spring 2026. This can be a place where we share updates on applications and requirements, ask questions, exchange information, and support each other along the way. I'm really looking forward to connecting with you all and going through this journey together. 🌷

Congratulations! Does this mean you got a seat? Mine is still in process because I have to do one more titer test but my background check and everything else is approved 😞 I really hope I still get in

I think viable candidate basically means the application is moving forward to the next review. I don't think it's a final decision yet. Does yours show both medical documents and background check as complete, but the status hasn't changed to viable candidate? I believe everyone still has a chance because they clearly stated that the review process will not begin until the application cycle ends on November 17.

Today I received an email from the nursing department and they said that there are now reviewing people that have completed all requirements first, then they will go with people that are still missing something in their application. In my case Im missing my TEAS test 😞 that's why they haven't updated mine yet! They told me once I get my TEAS they will review my application. Hopefully I will have a chance. Do anyone know why they opened two more dates for the TEAS?

I think they might just be trying to help out. Many students wait until the last minute to take the TEAS, but all the dates were fully booked. They're having a nursing info session tomorrow on Zoom, and maybe you could get a clear information from them.

Yeah I know, I took the TEAS the first time the first date they had available this September but I didn't pass, and I was thinking in waiting for the next cohort and I completely missed all the dates and when I tried to register they were all fully booked! so last week they sent an email saying they opened 2 more dates I rush to register so im waiting ! fingers crossed for me if I don't make it this time I wish luck to all of you guys 🙂
I am wondering if anyone can provide insight on this- I plan on applying for fall 2026. I have scoured this forum and reddit and couldnt find people in my situation. I am doing well in my prereqs currently but I have a BA from several years ago I did terrible in, less than a 3.0. Even if I 4.0 all my prereqs and coreqs I will hardly average out to a 3.0.
Today, at the info session, the advisor said that all classes are weighted equally. It doesnt matter if it was ten years ago and you're doing well now and she basically said the old GPA will hold you back and its the consquences of your actions. Which I understand, but it really stinks to have the mistakes of your 20 year old self hold you back when you're a while different person now. Luckily even my old GPA is above the minimum requirement but not by much.
Some post on allnurses have said the school ONLY looks at your prereq GPA/malcom x GPA. She confirmed today this is NOT true. She also confirmed that when they get to the final canidate pools and have to make a choice, GPA is the final consideration. So those of us who f'd around and messed up back in the day are at a huge disadvantage.
So I guess my question is this-- has anyone who sat hardly above the minimum GPA requirement gotten in?
Someone on facebook I chatted with who attended a few years ago told me that some of her classmates got to write a letter explaining their bad grades, which I had never heard of before. Not sure how true that is.

Yeah! I went today to the office and they said the same. End of November and first days of Dec. do anyone have the status in your selective application as " In progress"?
