Malcolm X College City Colleges of Chicago School of Nursing - Spring 2026

Published

Hello everyone! I wanted to start this thread for those of us applying to the Malcolm X College ADN Program for Spring 2026. This can be a place where we share updates on applications and requirements, ask questions, exchange information, and support each other along the way. I'm really looking forward to connecting with you all and going through this journey together. 🌷

Anyone else still at "in progress"?
My medical and background check stuff are still not put into the system.

To the best of my knowledge, anyone still "in progress" by now will not make it, except it changes to Viable Candidate before midnight.

How long did it take for y'all's application to get updated after submission of castlebranch documents and completion of the background check?

For all in the same boat as me in regards to incomplete castlebranch requirements within the selective application below is the response from the clinical coordinator.

"Greetings, The selective portal application is closing today and due to the team working diligently on application review any email messages will not be able to be addressed until Friday 11/21/25 or later.

please do not leave urgent email messages here. For castle Branch issues please reach out to them directly. Any and all documents submitted by the end of the application will be reviewed as part of your application if they are completed.

Wishing you the best,

CCCSON admissions clinical team"

Most people got their status changed to Viable Candidate about two weeks ago. Students in this category have completed their submission as soon as the application was opened.

My status only says "applied" and I completed everything about a month ago.

I believe many people will be updated to Viable Candidate before midnight. After today, the hope is lost till Fall 2026

This is my second attempt, and I didn't get in last time due to document issues. My CastleBranch background check and medical documents were ready early, and I applied at 3 AM on the first day to make sure I was one of the earliest applicants. Despite that, my background check wasn't marked complete until the last week of October, and my medical documents were marked ready at the same time my status changed to viable candidate on November 10. I don't believe there is a clear pattern where early applicants get checked off first.

Are background check and medical documents the only thing on your list that still showing incomplete?

Yeah! Atp I really think applying early is not such a big factor to get accepted. Having your status as "in progress" or "applied" does not mean you will be rejected nor being a "viable candidate" does not mean you will be accepted. Let's see how this unfolds, but I wish luck to everyone. Always hoping for the best outcome.
