Hello everyone! I wanted to start this thread for those of us applying to the Malcolm X College ADN Program for Spring 2026. This can be a place where we share updates on applications and requirements, ask questions, exchange information, and support each other along the way. I'm really looking forward to connecting with you all and going through this journey together. 🌷
PennyDar said:I think viable candidate basically means the application is moving forward to the next review. I don't think it's a final decision yet. Does yours show both medical documents and background check as complete, but the status hasn't changed to viable candidate? I believe everyone still has a chance because they clearly stated that the review process will not begin until the application cycle ends on November 17.
My background check is complete. However, because I need an additional titer due to requiring an MMR booster and don't have health insurance, my medical documents are show incomplete. I emailed the director and they said that it's OK if it's "in progress" I just have to stick to the titer schedule. Hopefully this won't affect me getting in since they are reviewing people with everything completed first. I got my MMR vaccine 20+ years ago so it might not have been strong enough to show immunity 😞

I think you are good for next cohort, you must be on Viable Candidate to have any slight hope. I say this base on my personal experience.

No email, "in progress" will turn to" Viable Candidate". This is only when you can be hopeful of securing a spot in the program.

Did you have a similar experience with medical documents? I passed background, TEAS, 3.6 GPA and everything. Literally just need a titer.

I'm asking that because I got this:
Dear A,
A decision has been made on your application for the Nursing-AAS program. Please log in to your application portal to review the decision.
Confirmation No :
Thank you,
Office of Admissions
and I checked and it says viable candidate. So I'm wondering if everyone received an email with change of status.

Have you checked if they marked your background check and medical as complete ?
