Malcolm X College-City Colleges of Chicago Nursing Fall 2021

Hey guys! My name’s Aminah and I’m gearing up to apply to Malcolm X’s Fall 2021 nursing program (woo-hoo!). Previous Malcolm X forums have been super helpful with giving me an idea of the program/ preparing me to apply so I wanted to start one for Fall 2021! 

I believe the application cycle begins January 4th. Would love to get in contact with other applicants! Have you taken the TEAS already? Do you still have a prereq to complete? Let’s chat ?.

@Rockstar that's amazing- congrats! 

Yeah, I got a 75% and I was really stressing about it.  It was before I started my BIO and CHEM classes this semester so I really didn't do well on the science.  I glad it was good enough though!

I spoke to my advisor who said classes open up for registration on 4/3, so it definitely pays to have an early decision so that we can grab the class times that work best for us!

Okk, do you feel the rest of your application is strong? Cause I’m wondering if it’s worth retaking. Wondering what rockstar15 got since she was planning to retake as well. If you don’t mind sharing, what areas of the exam were your weakness and how have you been preparing for the retake?

Also, I believe everyone here has done the regular application.

Of course. So truthfully I didn't score in the 80s like most of you. I took the TEAS while I was still at Resurrection University and withdrew shortly after I received a 74% overall. My section scores were 78.7% reading comprehension, 87.5% math, 75% English, and science was my lowest in the mid-50s which is hilarious because I was doing well in pharmacology and medsurg, but either or, should've studied for science. GPA is 3.68.

Science and English are my weakness and I prepared using the ATI TEAS comprehensive package.  I did reschedule to take it on 4/7/2021 but, I’m wondering if it’s worth it. Maybe rescheduling is the reason my application remains in progress.

Also got accepted into the program. 4.0  GPA and TEAS scores: reading 80.9 math 93.8 science 89.4 reading 83.3 (cumulative 87.3%). Has anyone received any further instructions as to the next step?

Is the admissions cumulative GPA supposed to be updated by someone? This is the only thing I'm missing but I'm not sure who takes care of it.

If you have prior college credits, you have to submit transcripts. Otherwise, you do not have to worry. They update that for you and it will show as "completed". Are you currently taking any of the 4 prerequisites?

Ohhh okay, thank you. Hopefully that happens soon. @Pretty Parrot right now I'm just taking Microbiology, I finished my prerequisites last semester.

Congrats! No further steps yet. Has anyone gotten their drug test yet or are we waiting for an actual acceptance letter?
