Malcolm X College-City Colleges of Chicago Nursing Fall 2021

Published

Hey guys! My name’s Aminah and I’m gearing up to apply to Malcolm X’s Fall 2021 nursing program (woo-hoo!). Previous Malcolm X forums have been super helpful with giving me an idea of the program/ preparing me to apply so I wanted to start one for Fall 2021!

I believe the application cycle begins January 4th. Would love to get in contact with other applicants! Have you taken the TEAS already? Do you still have a prereq to complete? Let’s chat ?.

Omggggg I just saw my email too! I’ve been accepted as well ?? God is so good! I’ve never heard of early offers, I’m so surprised!

Congratulations Lise Lu!

Congrats right back to you! This is such great news.  More motivation to hustle through the last half of this semester.

To think, I was even considering re-taking the TEAS!  Happy to have this weight off my shoulders now.  I also just landed a hospital job as a CNA which I'm also still in shock from.  Overall, I'm incredibly blessed and grateful.  I honestly thought it was bad news since it came early! PHEW!

I hope you get a chance to celebrate in some way! ?

OMG congrats to you both! I am so happy for you guys.?

I decided to just apply to next Spring because I have so much going on RN. Just an FYI if you guys still have to take A&P (which I'm taking now) its a lot of info. Very overwhelming.

Lise Lu: Wow congrats on the new CNA gig! Gonna be super helpful during the program! It’s such a relief; I’m celebrating all day tomorrow LOL!

Juju_Gee: Thank you so much! And yes, take your time; there’s no rush! I’ll be taking A&P in the fall; mentally preparing now ??‍♀️ LOL.

Hi all! I'm also trying to enter the nursing program at Malcolm X for Fall 2021. I applied on the selective applications portal in February but it still says "applied" and everything still says incomplete. Do you guys know if they'll be reviewing applications until the actual deadline? It kinda feels like I shouldn't bother for this upcoming semester and wait for the Spring instead.

Also, I panicked as I realized you guys have seats and I have yet to start submitting documents. Is a month enough time to compile all these documents?

I've been doing prerequisites for so long and I just want to enter so bad! ?‍♀️

Hi Meh,

Aminah and I started super early and it has definitely paid off.  However, I do not think it's too late!  But, it also depends on how much you have to do.  If you have your prereqs done, the most time-consuming thing will be getting your CNA certification... not sure if you have that yet?  I took an accelerated course through ICI and it took me a month.

I would assume that now they pretty busy with applications so they might be slower to update the checklist, but don't hesitate to email or call them!  They will definitely give you until at least the 4/17 deadline.

Hope this helps!

Hey!! Sorry for the late response! Yea like Lise Lu stated, it really just depends on how much you have left to complete and if you feel like you can submit it by 4/16. Could you fill us in on what you have left to submit so we can be of more assistance?

I’ve been following these forums for awhile as part of my research of the program and I’ve never heard of them offering seats early; I think things are being done differently this year. However, the deadline isn’t until the 16th so I’m sure they’ll be reviewing applications up until that date and after.

Honestly, I’m kind of confused by the deadline because I see the 17th on the portal but the 16th on the program’s website ?.

Reading through the forum inspired me to get off my butt and get that checklist done. I got my CNA a year ago and finished my prereqs last semester. But I was missing the TEAS, medical documents, and my high school transcript (which stressed me out because I live in a different state than where I attended H.S so it felt difficult to get this done but I finally got a hold of them). I submitted my medical documents today, so that only leaves with taking the TEAS, I registered and I'm scheduled take it next Wednesday 3/24 (I'm panicking because I haven't studied for it in a while!).

According to the assessments I've taken my weakness right now is the science portion. Was the mometrix enough or do you guys recommend I supplement with something else?

Seeing you guys get your seats inspired me to hurry the heck up. LOL hopefully I'm not too late.

Yayy I’m so glad you’re going through w/ applying for fall! You already had most things done. I mainly used Mometrix but I used the practice exams in the Kaplan guide as well. The science portion was harder than I expected; a lot of in depth questions about certain body systems and I haven’t taken A&P yet ?. But I still did pretty well so I think you’ll be fine just using Mometrix and maybe some Youtube vids to supplement!

Hi everyone, I'm also applying for fall 2021 and pretty much submitted most requirements except CNA certification and admissions GPA. Does anyone know who to contact about these last two components?

Hi,

Contact Ms. Holloway at [email protected], she can update your portal. CNA certification is verified through the state registry and GPA is part of your records.
