Hi all,Is there anyone here that had to make up hours for USA? I am an RMN and graduated 2000 having done the 18 months general 18 months psychiatric training. I have no idea what hours I may need to make up have submitted to cgfns for my credential evaluation. I know I have my psychiatic hours and lots of clinical hours in maternity and peads but no theory and next to no theory or clinical hours in surgical or medical.
Where did you all do your make up hours? I am planning making my hours up in the usa on a student visa.

The hours needed as far as I'm told are as follows
Care of adult-Medical- Practice 70 hours theory 30 hours
Care of adult-Surgical- Practice 70 hours theory 30 hours
Obstetrics-practice 70 hours theory 30 hours
Peads- practice 70 hours theory 30 hours
Psyc- practice 70 hours theory 30 hours
Your transcripts also need to show you have had study in

Social sicence
Hours & amount of study not specific.
I made sure I had these hours showing on my UK transcripts & I was granted approval from the Californian state boards & the CGFNS with them.
Hope this helps

Hi,
How did you make sure these hours were showing on your transcripts. Plus how did you manage to get your practice hours in middy as that has proved on of the most difficult areas to gain experience in?
I've the same question, I'm an RN in adult branch and have no obstetrics from my training!!! There is a guy from and american company called assignment america who is trying to find out for me and is going to email me about the same if he can find anything so will post it here when he gets back to me.
Hi Jaynie,
Welcome to all nurses. I trained many years ago in the UK with a lovely girl from Navan, so I know Dublin well some of the best times of my life have happened over there and I think of the place with fondness.
There are a fair few threads on here for nurses who have short hours, and it is such a shame that you have to face these problems, because unless you are going to work on L & D or paeds what does it matter.
Thanks for the welcome!
I'm just so desparate (I hate using that word!!) to get over to the US with my son to be with my boyfriend and finding the whole system so stressful, especially with all the red tape and finding that each time you think you are on the right road you keep hitting a brick wall!!
I've never been so frustrated in my life!

I so understand all the nurses who want to travel to the US feel frustrated at various places along the way. I think it depends on the UNi you trained in to whether you get here easily or not. I had never known so much paperwork as when you emigrate and when you get here you have a ream more:lol2:

HI
My training was 2 years long IBL style preceded by 1 year NVQ III & bridging module programme, this took the place of the foundation year. I was the first group to train like this in the Essex area as far as I know.
I got my obs training during a 2 week placement (standard at our uni) 2 weeks at 37 &1/2 hours each week, total 75 hours practical. The theory was calculated including the expected time given to complete the insite booklet that is handed in at the end of the placement. All insites for IBL style study are calculated like this, mental health, peads ect.
Before I asked my uni to send off the transcripts I contacted the woman who deals with it & told her what hours in theory & practice I needed to be accepted, I asked her to check my scripts & if any necessary hours were missing could she let me know how I could make them up with an official transcript proof I had done so. I was lucky that when she checked she said it was all ok & most hours far exceeded the figures I had given her.
However the CABON & the CGFNS both requested the scripts a 2nd time claiming they could not understand the way they had been presented, the 2nd lot sent out were accepted.
