Makeup under mask

Published

I'm looking for a good medium to full coverage foundation that will stay put under a mask all day. Before people jump on me for being vain, I have a skin condition that I would like to keep covered. Patients and families will see me without a mask, and we all know appearance is important in making a positive impression. Plus I just feel better about myself that way. Right now I use clinique a stay-matte but it's gone after awhile under a mask.

Wow! There are way more options than I ever thought! Thanks so much!!

I use Bare Minerals Ready Foundation. I don't wear a mask all day every day, but when I do care for a transplant patient and wear a mask most of the day, a bit of the makeup wears off, but I still have some coverage.

This is slightly off topic, but related, I hope, enough to elicit responses.

Someone mentioned moisturizers. I've been searching for an SPF moisturizer that doesn't make me look like a grease monkey!! I believe in SPF. My face is a combo of oily/ dry so that it flakes but still needs moisture but becomes shiny a few hrs into a shift.

Do any posters have suggestions for a matte look that includes moisturizer work SPF?

I have an oily T zone and sunscreen is very important to me. I asked a dermatologist and she said it's ok to use both chemical and physical sunscreen. I use a moisturizer with SPF estee lauder daywear advanced multi protection anti oxidant creme spf 15. Then physical sunscreen with spf 42 and lastly makeup

A good drugstore option is Neutrogena oil free moisture with SPF. We seem to have similar skin types and that has always kept me relatively neutral year round.

You could try using a powder sunscreen over your makeup. I use colorescience and it definitely keeps my oily skin matte. I only wear it when I'm going to be outside so I don't know how it would wear every day all day. It may be too drying.

I went to the mall today to get some samples of different foundations. Apparently I've got a hard skin tone to match. Estée Lauder's double wear really didn't have anything cool enough for me. Even their cool colors were very yellow. I also picked up a Mac sample of the pro longwear. Not sure about that color either. It looks a little too pink, but the lady was kind enough to get me the next shade too, so maybe I can blend them.

Has anyone tried makeup forever? They didn't have it at my mall but it seems to be listed as comparable to Mac.

I've never worn it under a mask, but make up forever is definitely a high quality foundation. I use a lot of their products, actually. They carry it at sephora. One trick I've used is to try applying those heavier duty foundations with a stippling brush instead of my fingers or a sponge. Seems to help distribute and blend them better on my very fair, difficult to match skin tone.

I always had a problem with my makeup "sliding off" until going into Sephora and finding Lancomes Teint Idole Ultra 24hour foundation. This stuff is amazing! Goes on great and stays on all day. I pair it with a primer from Bare Minerals and have been very happy...

My skin tone is very hard to match too. Apparently there is not much of a foundation market for pale olive skin...but funny you should mention Make Up For Ever. They are actually a brand that carries a shade that matches me.

MUFE's HD foundation has a wide range of shades and it's very possible you could find a match. It's not a heavy-coverage foundation, and to really help extend its life. Liquid Lift and Mat Velvet don't have as many shades bit are fuller coverage and longer wearing (my foundation match happens to be a Liquid Lift shade).

You will need to use a primer underneath. For reasons unknown I am able to edit my prior post :/

Any reviews on Smashbox foundations? I did stop by sephora yesterday but the girls working were not at all helpful... So I just wandered but ended up in a department store where I could actually get some help. Usually I love sephora but I'd never been any actually looking for help. Now I know my store is only good if you know what your looking for.
