I am a working LPN in a federal facility seeking "Magnet Status". In the wake of Magnet Hospitals where does that leave LPN"s?

Go for your RN ASAP. We phased out the LPNs in our hospital. They all had to go get their RNs within a set time, or risk losing their jobs.

It leaves you out in the cold unless you get your RN. Sorry.

Same here....the only LPNs that even get looked at now must be enrolled in a bridge program for RN. Only have a couple of LPNs that have been there 25-30 yrs and getting ready to retire that did not have to do this. All others have mysteriously disappeared.....

We are now a Magnet hospital and have at least two LPNs that I'm aware of. Neither are currently pursuing an RN license, but I'm pretty sure that there was a lot of fighting that had to be done on their behalf. It probably wouldn't hurt to touch base with your HR department to see what they might have to say so that you can start planning accordingly if need be. Best of luck!

LPNs get phased out real quickly. The hospital in my hometown has been Magnet since '06, and they stopped hiring LPNs quite a while ago. Actually, now, they don't really even hire ADNs.
I am very nervous now. All of my sciences are over 5 years old and have to be repeated. I have not started school yet. I understand it is a lengthy process. so maybe if I get started soon by the time they reach Magnet Status I will be a RN hopefully BSN.

Do not just accept that your older sciences won't be useable. Everything in academia is negotiable, imo. Good luck.

Yeah all the LPNs either got their RNs or were let go.
All ASN nurses are recommended to get their BSN.
