Anyone out there applied for MSC BSN program for Fall 2011? I was wondering what the timeline is for receiving acceptances. From previous posts on this site, it looks like we may not hear anything until April, even though registration begins in March (I think). Does anyone know how many applicants versus how many acceptances they have each year?
Also, are there any MSC students currently in the BSN program? I am interested to know what you think of the program. Finally, I was wondering how difficult it will be to work while enrolled. I have a daytime job with flexible hours (~25 hours per week). I currently work M-F and plan to continue the position while in the program, but will have the option of changing days/hours around, if needed. How time-consuming is the BSN program, including clinicals and labs? Will it be possible to work 20-25 hours while attending?
So I have some awesome news !!!! I just spoke on the phone with the nursing department regarding registering for a bio summer course and they told me that Pre-Licensure BSN letters were sent out yesterday!!!!! Yeah! I am sorry I do not know about the ASN letters; hopefully soon though too! Praying for us!! :)
YAY!!! I guess that means we will hear something in the next few days!!! That makes me soooo sooo nervous!! I guess if w don't get letters by the end of the week we know we didn't make it in! That's scary!! Let me know when you get your letter !:) GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!! Praying for us all!
My internet has been down for a day, so I didn't know about Terralyn's message. But she was right about the BSN letters! I got mine yesterday!! CHECK YOUR MAILBOXES!!!
My letter had some conflicting information, though. It stated I had "provisional acceptance" based upon my finishing 4-5 courses by fall-- some I didn't know about needing and others I had already taken. That concerned and confused me, because shouldn't they know what I had already taken? I called the office and it was just a mistake, so everything is OK!
With that, make sure to read your letters carefully and call the office with any questions-- they are really helpful and if you have to leave a message like I did, they did great with calling back. There is another mistake in the packet-- the orientation date is listed as 2 different dates (one June, one July). But there is only one orientation. They told me the one in July is the correct date, but please verify that for yourselves, so I am not misinforming anyone. Please report back to our "group" if you are given different information regarding this.
If you get your letter, know that you have to reserve your seat right away-- they don't give much time for this. You also have to order the background check (even less time given), but it is done online. I went to the school to reserve my seat this morning and registered for my CPR course at the same time. I know it sounds overwhelming, but your packet explains everything. Also, when you go to do these things, take the check-off sheet they provide, because they will sign off on your reservation, CPR registration, or anything else you do.
I hope this helps!! GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!! :)
Congratulations Nicubee ! Woohoo. And thank you for all the great information! I am glad they were able to sort out the course mistakes on your intake packet. If you got your packet yesterday, maybe I will get something today. The mail has not been by yet. Congrats, again, I am very happy for you!
Thanks, Terralyn!! Sometimes the mail I send to my CA family gets there quick and sometimes it takes a little longer... I wish it was more predictable. Also, some of you applied for both BSN and ASN programs. I don't know if that affects the selection or mailing procedures. I only applied for the BSN. One more thing, if they do their mailing alphabetically, my last name starts with an F...
I know everyone is on the edge of their seats waiting ..... Stay positive!!
I also got my letter yesterday and unfortunately did not make it in.. but I am still trying to stay somewhat hopeful about the ASN since I have not heard anything from that yet. I called the office today but they just said the ASN letters would be out later this month, so that doesn't help me much as to a more exact timeline, which really stinks because that means I'm going to be super stressed til I know..!!!! If anyone hears anything about the ASN please let me know, CONGRATS NICUBEE!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you Lvance7. I'm so sorry that you did not get the BSN, but I am keeping hopeful for you with the ASN. Those letters might be on their way sooner than you think. It seems like they announce their expected mailing dates as later than they really are. I don't know if they do this to allow more flexibility with mailings or to prevent lots of student calls to the office ...

Do any of you know where clinicals are held? Are they at MCCG? I have never been there, but I read it is the second largest hospital in GA. Do you know which semester we would start clinicals? I know some of the courses are taught in lab (at least at first). I just finished reading this book last week: http://www.amazon.com/Survive-Maybe-Even-Nursing-Schoo/dp/0803618298/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1302018220&sr=1-1. It gives a lot of good advice and resources for nursing students & nurses. Are any of you looking forward to clinical? I am because I like hands-on learning.
