Macomb Community Graduates 2012-13

Published

So, I said I would start this one after orientation so we could all have one thread to talk about things under instead of 10. What did everyone think of orientation? Any un-answered questions? And what start date is everyone requesting? Yay for the new uniforms/prices!

Well, if it's for 2 years then I definitely will do it earlier than what I thought. I just didn't want to get it now, since I'm unemployed at the moment.

I found the best price for titers yet -

St. Clair County Health Department - 810/ 987-5300

$65 for a 5 panel titer - includes: measles, mumps, rubella, varicella and hep b.

Same price regardless of county that you live in. Requires an appointment. Does not require a prescription or form from school. Results will be mailed directly to you and then can be forwarded with the proper paperwork to the school. Results do take 2 weeks.

zhockeymom-WoW....thanks for the info. Thats not that far from me. Do you live out in st. clair county? Did you make an appt. already?

Hi Bugsmom - I was at the Macomb County Health Dept. today getting my second Hep B immunization and I asked the nurse if she knew a cheap place for titers. I live in Clinton Twp., so I was shocked when she told me the price was the same. Yes, I made my appointment for July 19th, the only problem is that I probably won't test positive for Hep B immunity yet. This isn't that big of a deal because it is recommended that you get the Hep B titer, it's not a requirement.

Has anyone received their start dates yet?

I start Nursing school in October, which is what I wanted, so I'm very-very happy! :-) Anyone else start with me?

Congratulations! Can I ask what number you originally ranked? Did you request an earlier start?

My mail comes later in the day so I will be waiting anxiously!

Thank you! I honestly don't know my rank. I never asked. I didn't ask for an earlier start date (August). I wanted October for personal reasons, so I'm happy that I got it!

That is great - such good news!

Can you share book info? Did they recommend any extra reading?

They gave out the syllabus for HHSC 1040, which is the Intro to Nursing course.

REQUIRED TEXTBOOKS: Taylor, Fundamentals in Nursing (current edition)

American Nurse Association, Standards and scope of nursing practice (current edition)

Keys, Healthcare calculations (current edition)

RECOMMENDED TEXTBOOKS: Maki, S.E., & Patterson, B. Using the electronic health record. Delmar-USA 2008

It comes in a huge envelope, which contains your start month, clinical assignment placements, and nursing supply price list.

I will be taking the HHSC 1040 during those three 'seminar' days; August 16-August 18.

Also, I forgot to mention earlier that I will be taking my CPR class on June 30.

**** As stated during orientation, in regards to Facebook and other online social networks, we will NOT be allowed to post anything in regards of the following nature: clinical sites, patients, clinical experiences, clinical hospital staff, faculty, peers, lectures, lab experiences, and guest speakers. ****

Just wanted to throw that out there as it is in the syllabus as well.

My letter didn't come today :( But my friend that ranked 89 and asked for an August start date got an October one....
