Lunch/break question

So I'm supposed to have a 30 minute lunch break each day and I have been struggling to make that happen. I have tried sending a schedule of when I'll be in/out of the nurse's office to all of the staff. I've tried posting a schedule on my door with my lunch break written on there. I've tried leaving and trying to eat in the teacher's lounge. But I NEVER get my break! They search me out and call for me on the radio and do everything in their power to get me for the littlest things (nosebleeds, tummy aches, etc.) Today I sat in my office while they pounded on the door and ignored them (other than the non-emergent call from an admin about a parent that needed a form...). Any suggestions for what has worked for you? This not eating definitely makes me grumpy in the afternoons LOL

If it's not an urgent situation I let the teacher or assistant know I am on my lunch break and I'll be back in XX minutes. If it's a small cut I tell them wash with soap and water and put a bandaid on from their first aid kits, if it's a stomchache (that doesn't appear severe) I tell them have the child rest until I can get to them and so on and so forth.

Leave the building

If it's that "urgent," they can call 911!

As a hospital nurse, I never get a lunch break either... Just shove some poptarts down at the desk while attempting to chart

I think some of the frustration here (in a school) is that teachers lunch and prep time is sacred!!!

They will grieve their contract if their time is infringed upon, often we just don't eat.

Bwahaha!!!!

All HELL breaks loose the minute I am out of the building!! I cannot tell you how many times an ambulance has been called in my absence (and for very legit reasons!);

seizures, overdoses, fractures.... it is amazing how they seem to know I am not available!

We are ordering Greek today and closing the door. Me, my SW, and our secretary who now works in Guidance.

Hope the school can handle it.

Sweet!!! Order me up a Greek salad, spanakopita, and some of that yummy sticky gooey dessert with a side of 'buka and I'll be right over!!
