Hi, does anyone know which states allow students currently in rn nursing programs to take the nclex-pn?
Thanks

I go to a cc in maryland and its allowed for RN students to take the state exam for LPN license after two semesters and I think they may also be required to take a short summer course as well( not sure). But yes, the school I attend allows this.

Wisconsin technical colleges have a pn exit point if you choose to go that route. You can also take the pn boards and continue on for the completion to rn. I did this and it was a good experience. Not only did I get the experience of state boards, I also could work as a lpn which is getting me used to the routine of delegating and being responsible to pts and staff as well.

It would be best to contact your state board to find out if they allow this practice. You also need to be aware that even if allowed by your state Board, you still must have cooperation from your school of nursing. There are nursing schools that will not sign off on the applications for their students. Your school holds the final say in this.
This is very true, talked with your director at your school and the state board. My cc does sign off on RN students to take boards and the MBON is ok with this, however your school may be different.
