I have seen salaries as low as $12 an hour and as high as $18 an hour.

What is the average starting salary for A NEW lpn?

Just want to know if I will be able to pay off my student loan!

Hi!

Is there a difference in salaries for LPN when it comes to where you are working? Will an LPN at a hospital make more than an LPN at a nursing home?

In the city where I live, the LPNs/LVNs who work in nursing homes are actually paid more money than the LPNs/LVNs who are employed at hospitals. Since nursing homes are not regarded as the most desirable places to work, these facilities must offer competitive pay rates in order to attract and retain staff.

Out here in Ohio as well. :yeah:I love geri, so it's a huge bonus for me, can't wait to finish school.

hey prado!!! i dont know why but i cant reply to your message a few weeks ago, i dont understand why i dont have that privilage!!!! how do i do it lol!!! thats awesome about the job! hows it going??? i am finally graduated and whating for my ATT to take my NCLEX here in michigan, i have applied everywhere to work as a grad nurse while i wait but no luck!!! any advice on the NCLEX im so dand nervous!!! HELP!!!

FLg8r, that sounds like being an indentured servant. Im not even sure what LPn

make where I live. I hear so many stories, ranging from $12-26/hr. Whatever

the real pay is, I dont think its equal to the education. Im also becoming

discouraged. When I have been busting my ass in school,(this is a lot of hard

work to get A's) just to apply for the program from Hell and find out people with

0 education are getting paid the same wages for other jobs. I have a relative

that works in admitting in the hospital and makes over $18 an hour with no

college! The difference between getting into the Rn program vs Lpn program is

only Eng2, sociology, gym, govt, and 1 elective! How the heck are those

classes going to make a nurse any better? I would do it, but I am barely

scraping by to afford my 1 class this semester.

btw, my sister-in-law makes over $13 an hour working at wal-mart here in MI and has great benefits! Why not move here and get an instant pay raise without all the hard work.

Thanks for the info!

good 4 you. how many patients will they give you? i bet its like 30. what part of ca are you in?

I just got hired at a nursing and rehab center making 24$ for my first nursing job!!! Im so excited!!

Congrats! That is so awesome!!! Is it in the city or burbs? :yeah:

In northern MI especially, Traverse City the pay is horrible! I have lived here on and off my whole life and it has always been that way. The hospital here has a monopoly and so the pay is bad. You are required to get your BSN but only get one dollar an hour more for the degree. Starting wage is 14.85 for LPN and only 19.00 for RN. It is hardly worth all the work I have put in trying to make more of a life for myself and my daughter. On the plus side though, it does not really pay any less to be a community health nurse. That is what I wanted to do anyway. I was just worried that I would be losing out on a lot of money if I did. Now I can do what I want and not feel like I am robbing my family.
