LPN Starting Salary

Nurses LPN/LVN

Published

Hello

I am not an lpn but am thinking about becoming one and i have researched salaries.

I have seen salaries as low as $12 an hour and as high as $18 an hour.

What is the average starting salary for A NEW lpn?

Just want to know if I will be able to pay off my student loan!

Specializes in School LVN, Peds HH.

I'm a new LVN here in California. I just got a job as a home health nurse and I'm making $24.50 per visit.

I graduated March 08, took and passed the Nclex in May and I work in the Central Valley, California and I am making $20/hr which is really good for this area.

Specializes in LTC (LPN-RN).
I graduated in August and just started my very first job last week. I work 7-3 and make 25.10 an hour. I work in a pediatric rehab unit which is in a long term care facility. I love it so much so far. I live in new jersey

Wow I am shocked to hear you make so much. I guess you are working per diem right. B/c with benefits it def gets lower. What part of Jersey do you live?

Thanks

Are you ready for this? I have been out of school for 15 months, been licensed for right at 14 months. I started at my current job as a clinical LPN in a Pediatric office at 10.50 per hour. I work for the only NP in the office (which I KNOW makes a difference), so my pay is not determined by him, but by all of the doctors in the practice (the same as the receptionists and the general office staff). I am his only full-time nurse. We only see maybe 5 patients less than any of the other doctors per day, and they each have an LPN (2 have RNs) and a CNA. When I got my 1 year raise 2 months late last month, they gave me a whopping .20 raise. That's right...10.70 per hour for the same work that 2 nurses do. Unfortunately, I really love my job and I am very loyal to my kids and my mommies. Darn them...:)

Not to beat a dead horse, but I forgot to mention that I had worked in a factory in the same town for 10 years prior to nursing school. When I left I was making 10.60/hr. The work was nothing compared to the stress I have now. Only now I have 12,000 in student loans at 135/mo for 10 years. lol...my husband wants me to get a new job, but I keep putting him off. :)

To all the LPN's out there who r underpayed and r still working... i commend u...:nurse:...im still going for my lpn license... no matter what

I am a new grad and i started out at a SNF making 23hr. which is pretty good i'm guessing for my area, but my student loans haven't started yet and i'm worried about how much its going to be.

hello everyone! I am new to this site and currently in LPN school. I was just curious if anyone knew the starting wages for LPN's in LTC in the Columbus, Ohio area. I know our hospitals here do not hire LPN's. I have been working as a tech and Paramedic for many years now.. Thanks for any and all assistance that you can provide!

Hi all question for you. I'm a C.N.A. here in Arizona and considering getting into a L.P.N. program. I do well as a C.N.A. and my employers have been happy with me.

I am concerned about school. I am a person who Stutters and frankly have a pretty substantial phobia of reading out loud because of this. Could anyone elaborate on how much reading is actually involved in class? Has anyone had the same problem or know of someone who has who completed L.P.N. or R.N.? Will most instructors be sensitive of this?

Any input you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Robert

I make 21.75 doing home health.
