LPN salary questions

Published

Ok... I've been reading couple of topics regarding LPN pay... It's really low to the point where I don't think it's worth working getting paid less than $20. Even pharmacy technicians make close to $16/hr in illinois. So... I wonder... When you go on interview, do you ask for pay first? or how does this work? Can you negotiate? I really can't afford to get paid 14-18 dollars an hour. I was expecting as low as $21. This is scary...

In Pa Lpn's make $22-$32 an hour

That is good news! I'm in the LPN program at Broward at the moment. Just wondering you if you could recommend any hospitals/clinics to look into after graduation?

In TN I've seen wages that range from $13/hr- $21/hr. I have learned that it is all about the company you work for. When I was tech right before I tested, I was making $14/hr and nurses in the same facility started at $15. While most places do account for experience and pay anywhere from .10-.25 per year, as a new nurse I was appalled at the idea of starting at $1 more than I made as a tech before any shift differential and with a lot more responsibility. It took me a little time to find a good paying LPN job in my area, and luckily, I'm very happy with it.

In TN if LPNs make 13 and up - what do CNAs get??? That's really low!

New grad NYC- I was making $27/hr at at asst living facility-now $44k annually as a school nurse but better hours-both jobs- no bennies.

The school is a private school with plenty of time off. NYC schools only hire RNs.

I am in VT, when I worked corrections I started at $23/hr and went up to 28.05/hr in just 2 years, now I am in LTC and only making 21/hr. It was work the deduction in pay to work somewhere that I am truly appreciated for what I do!

I'm a new grad....... 23/hr base in the south suburbs of Chicago

I work in a wound healing clinic as a wound nurse/hyperbaric tech. and make $17 an hour, BUT I have medical, dental, vision, 401k and 19 PTO days per year which, IMO, makes up for the less than ideal pay. I'm in MS and have 17 years experience as a LPN.

Oh wow cool
