1yr as an Nurse......advice please?
Hello all, I'm a 22 year old male LPN I'm coming up on my first full year of being a nurse this march...... I am currently in school for my RN graduating July 2014.....I work in a LTC on days we have three floors that I float between a sub acute, LTC floor, and an Alzheimer's/Dementia floor Simply stated I want more experience in different areas or to simply get my feet wet in other areas I'm interested in working ER/ICU as an RN but I want to see more things....... I was thinking maybe I could do a short Dialysis tech class and get some experience that route or maybe home health?......idk I just want to experience more so I'm better prepared when I get my RN Any advice on which way I should go? Advice on career growth basically

New grad single dad with a question
My sons daycare is open from 6-6 In my area I will probably have to work 8 HR shifts at a local LTC My family might be willing to help on say me working overnights but I try not to rely on them and do things the most Independent way I know in a yr he will be going to kindergarten so that would make days most sensible I just want to make sure I can afford the best exp for my first yr of nursing possible and still be able to make this work

Advice needed
Hello All, I will be finishing my PN program in exactly two weeks I want to continue on in school to become an RN. My end goal is to become a FNP I am 21yrs old. My question is in your opinion do you think I should go to a private accelerated ASN program which is all inclusive pre req wise and finish with my ASN at 23y/o or go to a JUCO and finish off my pre reqs (which is like 3 semesters) and then try my luck applying to a BSN program? My fear is that taking the JUCO route I will end up like a lot of other LPNs and let "life" happen and put off RN school until it doesnt happen for whatever reason. And become stuck being a lifelong LPN. money isn't an issue school wise I just want opinions. Thanks to anyone that posts

sex in the work place...really?
Ive had sex in the workplace LTC facility working nights and being the only male I was a target. lol but It was going steady for about 5 months......unnnntttiiillll her childs father found out came up to the job with a gun and chased me in my car down the street, and then continued to harrass me on fb for about 3 months after. After having to take leave for a couple weeks I came back to being the center of gossip. I did end up sexing the lady one more time afterwards at work just as a final F*** YOU to her guy.....I was a young CNA at the time (18) and in the end changed my entire perspective on work relations.......DONT FIDDADLE WITH ANYONE WITH A CRAZY GUY AT HOME lol:D

How different is RN school from LPN training
Hello All, I am a 21y/o LPN student (graduating in December ) I was wondering from those who went on for RN training did you notice much of a difference in intensity. I hear nightmare stories of how RN school is LPN school times 40 in regards to content, is there that really that much of a learning curve? Am I wrong in saying that as an LPN you learn a vast majority of what you will encounter as an RN? If anyone can provide some input I would be a happy camper......

what is the most adrenaline pumping job
ello all, I am a 20 y/o pn nursing student, I will graduate in december. In your opinion what is the best area for me, I am interested in high octane, adrenaline pumping work, an area that when i leave work that morning/night i feel like i really made a difference in that pts life, during that critical moment. Granted i know that i will have to continue on to become an RN to do probably most of what im mentioning but what areas give you that adrenaline?, nursing homes are such a bore to me. -_- any help would be appreciated.........

3-11 info
I need help, but first let me explain my situation. I am currently attending a 12 month LPN program, and I have been working nights at a LTC for 2 years this job has been my only CNA job ive ever held, but I am going through a tough patch with them. I have recently recieved my 3rd and final write up, nothing care related but due to attendance. How ive come to recieve those write ups are due to 1. me calling off because my child was sick (6 months ago) 2. me calling off again in a time span of 58 days and you can only call off once every 60days 3. me coming to work and getting sent home for being sick, but since i wasnt there more then 4hrs i "should have had the foresight to call off ahead of time instead of coming in" i feel this is really unfair bc i am a good CNA. but nonetheless if i recieve another write up I will be fired from the only CNA job i have ever had. Which will not look good because I will be applying for jobs as an lpn in the coming months. i am looking into resigning and applying for another job at a different facility, i am looking into working 3-11shift but i have never worked such and i was wondering if anyone could give me a run down of how tht evening shift goes. any help would be a great help....thanks
