i'm now in school, getting ready to go for my lpn. i would love to go for my rn, but i'm terrified at the amount of math needed. is there anyone here that has math as their "low" subject and still going for their rn? i'm just not sure what i should do. perhaps i should take a math class as a refresher...any comments welcome! thanks

I have never been friends with math, however I do respect math. When I first started school I dreaded math but I knew that I'd be facing it so the CC I attended they offered a refresher course and it helped me a whole lot.

OMG, do NOT let math give you that much fear! I *PROMISE* you that you can do it....I am TERRIBLE at math, I even failed the dosage calc. exam (the first time) to get into my school's RN program, but I retook it and passed---a very happy day for me, then I got into the RN program!! ;)

DONT GIVE UP!

I went and checked these books out of our school's library---they are

AWESOME--- "Drug Calculations for Dummies" and "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Drug Calculations".....get them, they WORK!

I'm an LPN who was TERRIFIED of RN school, and now I LOVE it! :lol2:

Every exam we have, my math gets a little better. Also, go to other

students for help, go to your professors, get a tutor---you CAN do it!

Good luck and God Bless!

I was frightened before I took Algebra. I had always just barely gotten by with my math grades in high school. I was blessed to have an instructor who really loved mAth and wanted us to as well. He made it fun and he was just really great at teaching it. I got a B and only 1 point from an A. If I can do it you can do it!

I am the dumbest of dumb when it comes to math. My sons help their poor stupid Mom with math. However, nursing math is related to memorizing a formula and then putting the numbers in the forumula

If I can do it, honestly anyone can.

Nurse2B, the math is so easy, I dont think you are going to have any trouble. I was never good in math and I got a 98 on my drug calculations test. In my opinion, I think any 8th grade student can do the math. You basically adding, substracting, dividing and multiplication, that's all. The key is to remember the formulas and plug in the numbers. If I can do it, so can you!!!

Seriously do not let the math frighten you! If you can solve ratios, you can solve about 95% of RN school math. Go for it!

You will NEVER know unless you try it. It is definitely worth going for it. You would be surprised how *elementary* the math is broken down to. Think simple and don't make it harder than what it is.
