LPN/LVN to RN California almost impossible!!

Nursing Students LPN-RN

Anyone else out there feel like it's almost impossible to get from an LVN to RN in California? I've been trying for 2 years and its about the hardest thing ever. Any thoughts? I'm in San Diego by the way...

Alisonisayoshi, can you share the school name now? :-)

Two of the community colleges do - I think it's American River and Sac City. In addition there is a program at Cambridge down on Folsom near Watt. Then there is Pacific Union College in Angwin (doable while working). And finally there is the one at Univ of Phoenix at Ripon (1 night a week, then clinicals every few weekends).

Dbfitch are you talking about Carrington college off of Folsom Blvd? They r very expensive. I went there for my LVN and got robbedddddd but I hear that Unitek LVN to RN program is quite good.

I go to COC as well. They indeed cut the LVN to RN program this year but there are several schools in LA that still have it. Check around as there are options out there.

Carrington is crazy they want to charge a arm and a leg ! Plus,,! Want to you repeat the great Science classes. I told that women, there are no new Bones and plus, I got good grades so why in the hell do I want to waste more money. Unitek is expensive and unorganized, so I heard. You have to be a self study. WE have the most shortage in California as far as Nurses and it is hard to get into a program that won't have you driving a million miles away to get there. Some way I'm getting in because I NEED to Be an RN. I've exhausted all my Love for LVN. 2016 !!!!!

Honestly...i tell everyone that is considering nursing to just skip the nonsense and go straight for the RN. Unless i hate the person to the point where i want them to suffer a slow agonizing painful career....i tell them to go get lvn and step up to RN later. *****. But seriously i wouldnt tell my worst enemy that getting an lvn license is a good idea.

Hi there! Did you end up getting your LVN or RN and what steps/schools did you attend. I'm in Sacramento as well.

@Alisonisayoshi HI Alison ? , I came across this thread, and I saw you had mentioned your area is rural and no one wants to go up there LOL where are you located, If I may ask? I'm in the process of applying and im willing to move anywhere at this point. Thank you
