Thanks for all of your advice and support!! I should have mentioned that the Adn programs around here have AT LEAST a year wait. That's why I think it will be quicker to start the 11 month Lpn program and then go directly into the 8 month Lpn to rn program. Most importantly I feel really great about my age now :-) lol!

Hello, I just turned 41 and I'm about 90% sure that I am going back to school for nursing. The other 10% keeps telling me that I'm too old to do this :-( I've thought about going back to school for nursing a lot for the last 10 years. But, being in another field completely, I thought it was just a crazy idea. Finally, I asked myself "What do you want to do for the next 20 years?" Ultimately, I want to get my BSN. I think that the fastest way for me to do this is LPN, LPN to RN, RN to BSN. I do have 60 college credits of general education that would probably help out at least a little. I don't really want to go through the whole lottery/highly competitive process of an ADN program, that is why I am opting for the LPN to get me started right away. Does this sound crazy? I'm in the Sacramento, CA area by the way. Any feedback/advice is greatly appreciated!

Hello, I realize this is an old post, but I am struggling right now on deciding which course to take to become an RN. I also live in the Sac area.. what are the 2 schools that offer an LVN-rn? Are you talking about Sac State? I wasn't aware of another one, if you wouldn't mind sharing :-)

thanks! That is very helpful!! I did try calling Middlesex several times, with no answer (not a good sign right there I guess). I have spoken to the woman at Monmouth a few times, and she too was very helpful. One more question, if you do pass the tests at UMDNJ will they only transfer to Brookdale or any other bridge program as well? thanks again!

Hello, I am trying to decide between Middlesex and Monmouth county vo tech. I am going for the lpn and then planning on doing an online bridge for the RN or possible BSN. The reason i am doing it this way is because I have two kids and a husband. classroom time (during the day) has to be kept to a minimum. these two schools have different things that I like about each of them, but there is one thing Monmouth has that I am trying to find out if Middlesex has. At Monmouth vo tech, you are able to take some tests (A&P, Chem, etc...in conjuction with your lpn classes) at UMDNJ to attempt to carry those credits into an RN program. Also, i read somewhere on here that Monmouth Vo tech is accredited while Middlesex Vo tech is not. But it seems from my research that vo techs really aren't accredited... maybe approved by the state, but not accredited. Can anyone shed some light? and also address the "testing out" question regarding Middlesex vo tech? thank you soooo much, this board has been so helpful!!! Michele

Hi, I just turned 34 (yesterday) and I made the final decision, after a couple years of dancing around it, to go to nursing school. i am thinking of doing exactly what you have done... lpn, rn, bsn. I have a 1 & 2 year old at home, so i need to fast track as much as possible. Starting with the LPN, I think, is the best way to do this. having done it already, would you agree? is there anything I need to know (certification, licensure issues) when choosing the LPN program? thanks so much!!!

hi, i am looking to complete an lpn program and then an rn program online... does your comment here mean that unless you do the lpn coursework at a college (rather than vo-tech), you can not then easily move on to an rn program? sorry if this seems like an obvious question... i am just now starting to research my course of action to get this done. fyi.. i do have at least two full years of college credits that should help me out in the future with some of the general ed courses. thank you!!!
