On-call hospice nurse
Isnt that against the law? I would think it would be hipaa violation to take triage calls during a patient visit. Also against the law to take calls while driving to a patient visit and try taking notes...very dangerous. What are your thoughts?

New RN ready to give up
Seems to me like u work in a toxic work environment. Nothing worse than walking on eggshells all day at work. Get your experience while youre there...and CONSTANTLY look for other job opportunities. Not all work environments are alike...ive been in really great team oriented places and also the type of place u describe. You will never make it out of there unless u try...which equals to u applying and networking for better jobs. Many people just get comfortable and stagnant at their job. You will lose out on many opportunities like that. Keep pushing through...you will be fine. Many nurses like to flex their seniority on new grads, but eventually ease off.

LPN/LVN to RN California almost impossible!!
Honestly...i tell everyone that is considering nursing to just skip the nonsense and go straight for the RN. Unless i hate the person to the point where i want them to suffer a slow agonizing painful career....i tell them to go get lvn and step up to RN later. *****. But seriously i wouldnt tell my worst enemy that getting an lvn license is a good idea.

What do you do for money during nursing school?
Student loans were my only option during nursing school. I actually borrowed extra on top of my tuition in order to live. I really didn't want to struggle with finances during an already stressful event such as nursing school. The money you borrow now will be nothing compared to what you make later as a nurse. just don't get too overboard with it. I'm at about 20k with tuition included. Also, you can find part time registry jobs that will help with extra cash too. I did ER tech at the local hospital through registry and it looks good on your work experience toward landing that first job! It's nice because you can give them your availability, which changes ALL THE TIME, with clinicals.

I did! I just passed nursing school! Any tips to prepare for NCLEX?
Saunders NCLEX prep questions. 20 day...know them inside out. The next day...20 more. Know them inside out. Then the next day...20 more. Know them inside out. Before you know it, you will know the answers to about 500 questions in less than a month. Make sure you test yourself with all the prior day's answers added into your current day's 20 questions. This is where you really start to memorize the answers. This is how me and my fiancé passed our boards first time around. Pretty nerve racking on test day. Just eat a good breakfast. I did not sleep a single minute the night before the test, yet passed with like 75 questions. I can say with confidence Saunders practice questions made the difference in my experience. GOOD LUCK!!

Kaplan college san diego adn rn admission
The admission rep for the RN program at Kaplan San Diego has a serious attitude problem. My old rep used to be *** and he was AWESOME! Now that he's gone...I cant believe this bottom of the barrel rep is what I have to work with. Talking to this woman...you might as well be talking to brick wall. SMH...

Kaplan college san diego adn rn admission
I got a 95% on my KTP and work experience for 4 years and I am an LVN Kaplan alumni with high honors. I didn't get accepted... The funny thing is I know people that got in with way lower scores this cohort...leads me to believe their interview process is somewhat discriminatory. You have no idea how that feels!!

LPN/LVN to RN California almost impossible!!
Yea i know what you mean about having 2 applications pending...1) LVN to RN and 2) Generic RN...u know what the funniest kicker is? They don't allow you to have 2 applications pending...*****. I just tried it at National University...I was like HOW IN THE F*%k is that not possible!?!? It just keeps getting better my friends...LOL

LPN/LVN to RN California almost impossible!!
I think the LVN as a whole is a trap...getting into an RN program as an LVN is the hardest and most stressful thing I've had to experience. I agree with you that its ridiculous how many people are getting their RNs. Put it this way...the last school I applied to pushes out 240 RN graduates a year VS 40 LVN to RN graduates a year.

LPN/LVN to RN California almost impossible!!
You know what really drives me crazy...its the fact that different schools require their own little prereq that they add in order to apply for that program. You would think that with all the required prereqs...(ap1/2, micro and all the gen. education) would be a universal requirement, but no. To put it into perspective...One school requires a mandatory pharm class just to apply while another requires an IV cert class just to apply and another one requires that you take a transition course BEFORE even applying. That is just ridiculous...California really needs to streamline this nonsense. How they think a person has the time to devote all these extra things in order to just even apply is beyond me. To add to the Irony, they accept 10 applicants a year...smh

Lvn to bsn frustration!
Getting my lvn has got to be the worst mistake i've ever made. It's like a trap!!! To put this into perspective...most schools take up to 60 generic entry RN students that have no nursing background or history, but yet take only 10 LVN to RN applicants. So basically, your're S.O.L. most of the time because those 10 spots are SOOOOOO competitive. I went to school for LVN thinking that it would give me the experience and education that would make it EASIER to obtain my RN later. That is soooooo far from the truth...actually its a damn nightmare trying to get from LVN to RN. Who makes these calls? Who allots such small number of spaces for lvn to rn applicants? BVNPT? BRN? Think about it...there are 240 generic entry RN students accepted annually at our local kaplan college, BUT only 40 LVN to RN applicant slots for the year? Im actually considering applying for the generic entry RN program at any college at this point. I am beyond livid when I think about how difficult the boards have made it for those that have become LVNs in California. Something has to be done...
