Nursing Students LPN/LVN Students

.... yesterday i had a disagreement with my teacher about how she treats certain students like their the devils child and how she lets others get away with murder: come late, eating basically a full course DURING class, have their own personal conversations during class, etc...we weren't yelling at each other though nor being disrespectful towards each other. but we're in front of the whole class. i wasnt going to say any names but she kept egging me on to say who. so i named the girls she seems to be so mesmerized by and she just stayed shut cuz she knew exactly what i was talking about. she just didnt think that i would call her out in front of everybody. i dont know why because everybody sees it.. but now today as soon as i get to school and they tell me that i have to leave - no discussion, no being able to state my case on the matter. they just call me in tell me i have 10min to get off the property and the only time, if any, i have to state my case is on tuesday and i better "choose my words wisely" - put simply they're kicking me out of school! what kinda bs is that.. :angryfire if i get kicked out cause of this.....

You didn't answer the question.

Quote your source where the BON has the authority to ban eating, drinking and regulating classroom attendance at a college program.

In my state, clinical hours and WHAT is taught in the curriculum is the only thing that is regulated.

How the college gets from point A to point B is up to them.

Be careful about posting things that you have no direct knowledge of.

No, no, no. The state board can be called upon to investigate a program if they receive complaints that the quality of education is suffering (i.e., distractions permitted in class).

Why would you want to "report" a school or institution if clearly the whole class doesn't mind that everyone is eating or drinking? Like she said, if the instructor wants to resolve it, they can resolve it by saying "no eating or drinking".

If its a class consensus that eating is OK... why would you want to report it? Its obviously ok with her class, considering she went out of her way to even pick up food sometimes for people.

Thats just..... silly......

Now, breaking open a huge bag of doritos, sitting right in the middle of class, and being the ONLY one to eat, chomping away, that might be a little distracting. However, if the majority of the class is eating, so what? In my opinion, its harder to concentrate with a growling and gurgling stomach than it is someone coming in late quietly or someone eating a small bag of chips.

Oh please people stop it.From high school to college to medical assistant school to now LPN school people have been eating in class and I have continued to maintain a 4.0 grade point average.Someone eating quietly when they are obviously hungry should not disable anyone from learning I have never heard that in my life.I am not making excuses for anyone or attacking anyone on this post but please people give it a rest and just finish nursing school whether or not someone that sits behind you has a dam burger!Geeeeeeeeeeshhhhhhh

lolololololololololololololololol...........

Some people learn differently than others. There is a tiny little bitty thing called CONSIDERATION and MANNERS for others Me personally i could care less what someone else is doing as long as it is not disrupting me from learning(i.e talking while lecture is going, answering cell phones in class by the way especially if its not on vibrate that shoot annoys the crap out of me, arguing with the teachers, always going off on tangents about things that are unrelated to what the lecture is about, asking a question about what the instructor just addressed 1 minute ago [and i dont mean like when you are asking for a clarification because you did not understand something]). Other than that as long as i am getting what i paid for out of POCKET i am good to go.

That is absolutely, 190% not true.

If the school has a very good NCLEX pass rate, then you would be very hard-pressed to convince the BON that they should launch an investigation regarding eating and drinking in class being "detrimental to learning".

I"m not getting personal...I'm just demonstrating that you didn't answer the question.

If you can find me a link to ANY State's BON webpage that shows that students should report instances that are "detrimental to learning" that don't have anything to do with race, ethnicity, etc...b/c that isn't in the same catagory as eating/drinking/coming in late...and that if such is found, that they will lose their accreditation...then I'll be glad to post public apology.

If you can't concentrate if people are eating, then how can you expect to function in an emergency situation in a hospital with tons of people shouting orders, getting this, getting that...how can you expect to concentrate on what you are supposed to do next if you are so easily distracted?????

First, please calm down.

Second, you are picking my previous posts to pieces to make your "point." The fact is, it is 190% true that a nursing program can be reported. I never specifically said a program would be suspended for allowing food and drink in class. I was making a broad statement about a laissez-faire program in general which, it can be assumed if the program fails to maintain order in one area, they probably fail to do so in others.

Finally, it doesn't matter what you think is hard to "report" about a program. If enough students reported a program, no matter how "minor" YOU think it is, it can prompt a survey team to be sent to the program to investigate the complaints. Most likely a "food and drink" complaint would not go far, but a complaint about suffering student education might, wouldn't you say?

Please, go to bed.
