I start the LPN nursing courses January 2nd. Starting February 4th, 2008 through December 15, 2008 our schedule will be as follows:
M -W - F: 7am - 2pm at the clinical site
T-TH: 11:30 - 2:30 lecture/theory
This seems like so much. In addition, time must be scheduled in the simulation lab and video library. I've read other posts on here where RN's go to clinical sites every other week for only 2 days. We go 3 days per week for almost 11 months! Our breaks between semesters are only a few days.
My school offers a bridge to RN program and LPN's only have to complete 1 year of clinicals 2 days every other week.
I am wondering why we have so much clinical time scheduled? It seems that when we graduate we will have logged as many clinical hours as the graduating RN class has.....and the RN's went for 2 years!
Anyone have insight?
I'm half way thru for LPN. Our clinical schedule was till 3pm, then post-conference till 4pm - 3 days a week & class the other 2. Starting in Jan. we'll do Med-Surg & work 7am - 7pm. You got it easy. Be glad for the hands on experience. I seem to learn a lot more doing hands on than from reading words on a page.

the 11 month program i'm in presently, started clinical the 8th week. since then clinical days are 3 days a week (wed-fri) at one facility, for 6weeks. then go to new facility 3 days a week for another 6 weeks then change again.
