Hello,
I'm trying to gather what my best options are for taking pre-reqs online. I need the following:
Chemistry (general) w/ lab
A&P I and II w/ lab
Microbiology w/lab
Pathophysiology
I have found them for $215/credit hour @ Rio Salado Online.
Anyone else found these courses online? I am paying OOP for all of my pre-reqs and trying to get my consumer debt (including car loan) paid off before I begin applying to NS, so I am really hoping to keep the bill for these down as low as possible.
And I know taking them online might not be the most ideal situation however it is an absolute must for me because I'm unable to have a set schedule w/ my employer, so cannot take in-person courses.

Make sure if you are taking science pre-reqs online that they are accepted by the program(s) you want to apply to. Many schools will only allow in-person or hybrid option courses because of the lab component. Your best bet would be to look at local community college offerings for hybrid and online coursework as these are more likely to be accepted by local nursing programs and are typically quite affordable.

I took my A&P courses through Portage Learning (affiliated with Nursing ABC). It was cheap, $740 or so, and A&P w/ lab is a 4 credit course. Check with the schools you're applying to to see what online programs they accept credits from!!! It would be a real waste of time and money to pay for and complete a course and then find out the school doesn't accept those credits.

I took My API and APII with edukan and my Micro through Clovis. Both were accepted by my school and I have been really happy with the teaching. Also with Edukan the book is an Etext and included in price.

Please check with your school to make sure they will accept these credits.
My CC offers online A&P 1 & 2. They do include a lab component (several dissections). Your midterm and final do have to be taken with a proctor but that shouldn't be too hard to arrange.

StraighterLine, but my college wouldn't accept the grades from them. If I had transferred credit from straighterline, it would have transferred as a C, so I had to take the class locally. But if your program will accept their grades, they are cheap and you can do it all from home.

If you're confident in your self-learning ability and your school will accept CLEP they have one for Chemistry. The last time I took a CLEP test it was only $160 vs $532 for the class, this was 7 years ago so I'm sure prices have gone up but, it might be an easy way to save some money. Good luck.

I know this isn't the newest post, but was hoping you might be able to tell me how your micro class at Clovis went? I'm registered for the summer course with Hughes and it's only 8 weeks. I've been trying to read through the text before class begins because it's such a short course but I'm nervous :)
