I have never heard of this before today. Any comments?Lotus Birth
I am thinking #1 Anemia or #2 Polycythemia. What's to prevent that?
This is sooooooo weird!
My first thought was...but when my Grandson was born at home (not on purpose...just very fast delivery, with me as "catcher")...the Pediatrician made him have daily CBCs for a week, because she said he was "too red" (indicative of elevated Hemocrit) and we had to give him 2 oz. of formula every 2 hours around the clock to get it down....and she said it was CAUSED because I didn't cut the cord SOON enough!!! (And I felt so guilty having to take him into lab and having him cry & cry as they poked his little heels and squeezed out enough blood for CBCs) What happens to hemocrits in Lotus Birth babies??? (And have any of you L&D nurses ever heard of elevated crits because of too long before cutting cord?)(It was about 10 minutes...I was busy trying to get him to breath...)
Typed in lotus birth and was directed to a site by some one who obviously thinks radically in that direction ( and thats ok, knock yourself out) BUT she mentioned that "without benefit of questioning by the police" the staff routinely separates the placenta from the baby...Now are WE going to be accessories to some sort of crime?????Sorry, long night...
Heard about this on some ridiculous show on MTV and on the news....found this article about it
A CREAM made from the FORESKIN'S of baby's member....I wonder if parents know that is what they are doing with it...
When of course - they could use it so many more creative ways...just like placenta...mmm mmm good

It's amazing what people will come up with when it involves childbirth. Hmmm...possible explanation for the term "placenta brained"???

I don't know why people can't accept this slightly alternative birth process. My two boys both had lotus births, and not having any sea salt the placenta was coated with table salt. EarthSun, who was born in July had minor problems with insects. , About two weeks after birth the placenta began attracted flies in large numbers. Going shopping with him and his small army of flies was a challenge, many of the shop keepers didn't want us in their shops. I found that by rubbing a small amount of Vicks vaporub under my nose I couldn't smell the placenta at all. Mud was born in December and we had no problems. We were living in a wall tent in the Idaho Panhandle then and it was cold enough in winter that no flies were around. After it detached we dried them in our friends dehydrator, if doing this it's best to remove most of the racks so it will fit. We have them in small boxes and we're going to give the boys when they're a bit older. They shrink down to about 1/4 their size when dried.
Earthsun and Mud are very healthy, normal teenage boys now.

Sounds like a sick trend to me, I don't think so. If it is done by Chimps it must be a logical reason in THEIR Species?!!
