I just found out tonight I'm starting this August!! I swear it feels like a dream; I never thought I would get in. There are about 500 names for 44 spots and it's done by lottery. This is my first time applying and I GOT IN!! I've never won anything in my life and this totally makes up for it~lol.

Kristin,
So, I found some of the books listed in the textbook "bundle". The packet included the images of the 6 books we need. But since the images are small, it's hard to make out the author, and or edition. I did 'my homework' (it would have been so much easier if they had included the ISBN #'s.) So I Googled the titles and this is what I have found so far:
* Fundamentals of Nursing: Caring and Clinical Judgment (ISBN-13: 9781416034360) 3rd edition.
* Pharmacology and the Nursing Process, by Harrington (I can only make out 1 of 4 authors because the font is blurry.) I have not found it online yet, and not sure what edition we need. But it may be the 6th edition?? I say that only because there is a huge 6 on the upper right hand corner. LOL! I don't know??
* Nursing interventions & Clinical Skills by Elkin Perry Potter 4th Edition. I can't seem to find the ISBN# but here's the link from Amazon: Amazon.com: Nursing Interventions
Here are the titles of the other books we need, but again, i can't make out which edition we need.
* Medical Surgical Nursing, by Lewis at. al
* Foundations of Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing, by ???
* Maternity & Women's Health Care, by Perry and ?
I hope this helps. I want to call the Nursing department to help fill in the blanks. When you get your packet you will see what I am talking about. I don't want to wait until Aug 1st to check out what they have in the bookstore because i am afraid that shipping will take too long. But then again, I might just be a little paranoid. LOL! Talk to you soon!

I've been calling the nursing department and there's NO ANSWER!! Does anyone ever work there? lol Thanks for those books; I know that the Fundamentals one is the one my friend said I would need to get. I bought my drug book last night at B&N :) The school recommends Davis, but I bought Saunder's 2011 Nursing Drug Handbook. I just liked how it read better. My friend said it doesn't matter which book we have, they have all the same info. There's just so much to buy and I want to get it slowly out of the way. We only have 4 weeks left!! :) :)
Oh, and my friend that is alternate #17 called admissions yesterday. She was told that there were two more alternates ahead of her, but everyone else had accepted there spots up until this point. I can't believe HOW close she is!! Unless two more people change their minds, she won't be getting in I can't think of a worse spot to be in!! I told her to stay positive, there's still 4 weeks for people to make other decisions :)
good luck, rntm85!! the last 2 years they got up to alternate #20+, so i'm hoping that they get that high this year. i really want my friend to get in!! how many times have you applied?
oh, and i had to correct something i typed. i know it's silly, but spelling errors bother me and it won't let me edit it~lol.
"but everyone else had accepted there spots up until this point. i can't believe how close she is!!" of course, that should be "their"
stephanie, i finally got my packet!! long story behind it, but i got someone in another department to help me :) so, ignore my email~lol. see you saturday :)
Kristin,
I was just about to email you but then I saw your second post. OMG! I'm so happy you finally got your packet! Whooo hooo! :yeah:Now it truly is official! Well, even though it was already official once you registered for classes, but you know what I mean. LOL! I also got no answer when I called the nursing department! And when I went to campus there was no one there, which I thought was a little odd, but I assumed folks were on vacation or something. Oh wow! I will keep my fingers crossed for your friend! That IS really close!! *sends positive vibes* =) OMG! This will soon be us :nurse:!!!!!! LOL! *dance for joy! * LOL! Talk to you soon! Oh, will meet you on Saturday! =)
- rntm85,
Good luck! Keep us posted! =)
Oh, and about the uniforms; yes, they will soften up. They're the brand I wear mostly at work. They are pretty stiff at first but they soften after several washes I was also looking into ordering the books I need, but then I noticed that it said the book store manager would be there on Saturday. I want to be sure I order the correct books since I'll be buying them used and probably won't be able to return them. I found the Fundamentals book in the picture for less than $5 used and I know just that can't be right~lol.
Hi everyone, I am so glad I found this site!! I was alternate #11 & found out I got accepted two weeks ago!! I got my packet & have been trying to get everything done asap since I only have till the 30th. I went by the bookstore yesterday & they have zero information on the book bundle. No prices, titles, or ISBN!! I'm glad that I can find out some info from all the post on here & hopefully on Saturday. Is everyone going? I am so excited & can't wait to meet everyone!! Thanks for all the info.

Kristin,
Thanks for the ISBN #'s, i will def check them out. I know what you mean; the parking lot was full when I went to campus. But i didn't even see that many students on campus! LOL. Is your husband ok? i hope so. I agree. There is no way i am paying tons of money on the books @ the school. I will probably have to call the Nursing department and request more info. about books, or something. No worries! I am totally EXCITED too!!! YIKES!!! Funny thing is that I felt very anxious when i went to campus to register for classes! It HIT me like a ton of bricks! i was like 'OMG! OMG! This is it!' LOL! I'm such a dork! i mean, it wasn't even the first day of school or anything. hahaha. i thought about getting some Nike's or something, but my friend told me that Walmart has 'medical shoes' they are white and have non-slip soles, so i might check them out. I've researched some websites and nursing shoes are freaking expensive! But i am still not sure what I am going to do. And, NO, the packet mentioned nothing about shoes. I went to try on some scrubs too, after i registered for classes!!!! And UGH! OMG, i hate them! i thought scrubs were supposed to be comfortable, but the material must be cheap or something because i felt like i as wearing a potato sack! Maybe once they are washed and hit with tons of fabric softener they might be a bit more comfy??? *I hope! LOL! maybe it was just me? I really don't care how i look. And, yes, we will look silly together! =) But i am SO happy we are NOT wearing all white! Whew! Because I did not want to make nude my new best friend! Oh, and no, i haven't started the modules yet. ugh! i have to get started on them pronto. i also need to get a parking permit. I hope parking won't be a major issue....don't we have class really early anyways? But regardless of the time, I have to make sure i get to campus early and on time since I live so far. boo! The drive to campus wasn't too bad..about 40 minutes w/o traffic...and i wasn't speeding. lol! I hope you get your packet soon. Sheesh. Talk to you soon!
