I just found out tonight I'm starting this August!! I swear it feels like a dream; I never thought I would get in. There are about 500 names for 44 spots and it's done by lottery. This is my first time applying and I GOT IN!! I've never won anything in my life and this totally makes up for it~lol.

well, i finally heard back that my teas transcript was received. i also called the background/screening company this morning and was told that they had all my info, but that "for some reason" it hadn't been sent to the school?!? omg~i'm so glad i called!! anyhoo, at least i know everything is done. i'm just laughing at how ironic it is; i completed all my stuff the day i got the letter, but i'm going to be the last to get a packet~lol.
is there an orientation? if so, when? also, is there anything i can get started with doing/buying now? it'll probably be another week or so before i get my packet i'm still pinching myself over the fact that i am starting nursing school!!! lol

Kristin,
OMG! Really?! That's what they said, "for some reason?! WTH?! Uh uh! Sorry, hearing that ticked me off. LOL! Well, I am glad that everything got sorting out in the end. =)
Well, we have a lot of things that need to get done so its better that you wait for your packet. You will have plenty of time to turn stuff in tho. Medical forms are due by July 30th. We have to have physical and make sure we have proof that all immunizations are up to date, etc. There is info. on ordering books and our supply kit, etc. We have to do an Online Clinical Orientation, which needs to be completed prior to starting Clinicals (i think). Oh! There will be a 'Meet & Greet' on July 17 @ a pizza place in Antioch, but I remember what the place is called. And classes start August 13th!! Yikes! LOL! That is all I remember off the top of my head, but I think I covered the important stuff (again, this is from what I remember). Hope you get your packet soon. Talk to you soon!

Kristin,
Hooray for registering!! I need to register asap. Have you talk to someone about your packet? And I am glad you finally got your results, can't believe it took that long. =) I had to get a Tetorifice shot today, and a TB skin test. Wahhh! My arm hurts (darn Tetorifice shots are the worst), but i'll just have to get over it. LOL. Just a heads up on immunizations, we need to do a Two-Step PPD skin test or a current chest x-ray to r/o TB. Get one TB skin test and have it read after 48-72 hours. Wait 1-3 wks to the 2nd skin test....etc. We also need blood work to prove that we have been immunized....we need titers for MMR, Hep B, and Varicella. Maybe that's something you can work on while you wait. And if you haven't had a physical recently... Anyways, hope you get your packet soon! keep my posted. Feel like the 13th is just around the corner! Talk to you later!
-Stephanie
no, i haven't talked to anyone. since i just got the copy of my screening saturday, i figured i'd get the packet this week. i did my tetorifice yesterday, too i started working at john muir hospital this past december and when i was hired, i was required to have a physical and all my immunizations/vaccinations. the hospital even paid for it all, which is nice :) will you be going to the "meet & greet" you mentioned?

Kristin,
Oh cool. Well then your set! All you just need to fill the forms out then. Yeah, luckily I had a physical in Jan so that takes care of that. Yes, I will be going to the 'Meet and Greet'. Are you planning on going? The name of the place is Skipolini's Pizza in Antioch. Do you have any idea how much scrubs are? just wondering. Do you know if we are wearing all white? Did your friend mention anything about the shoes we need or best place to buy them at? If you don't know, that's ok because I am sure we'll find out.
-Stephanie
yum, skip's is my favorite pizza. now i'll definitely be going~lol. did it not give you any info about uniforms in the packet? we will be wearing maroon colored pants and white scrub tops/jackets. the lvns have all maroon...i wish that was us. i hate white! it could be worse if the pants were white, too i know she said we are *supposed* to wear white shoes but she wore teal and gray nike's the whole two years and nobody ever said anything. i will probably just go try some white nike's or new balance :)

Kristin,
Cool! Yay to yummy pizza. LOL. The info. said that we could either go to the Scrubs etc., to buy scrubs or put in an order @ the 'Meet and Greet' with the Scrubs etc., representative that will be there. They did not give any other details about uniforms. And we can wear out 'street clothes' on the first day of class. I know! I'm glad we are not wearing all white! Whew! i can't keep white anything clean/stain free...a magnet for pen markings etc. LOL! Wonder how that will work in the hospital...dealing with bodily fluids etc. Talk to you soon! =)
clinical days are thursdays and fridays and they will start in the hospitals in september; i think it's like the 3rd or 4th week of school. they are usually about 6:45am-3pm. i assume the first three weeks we will just be on campus practicing skills? the schedule looks a bit confusing, but i think we will be on campus from 8/13-9/03, then starting in the hospitals the second week of september. we are off on mondays, except for 9/20 and 11/1. i assume they will go over the schedule and make it easier to understand when are you planning in registering? such a pain to actually have to go down there, i wish we could do it online. i had to pay $3 to park for 10 minutes~lol.
i'm also taking drama online this semester. i was so surprised to get in my first try, i thought i'd have more time to finish my classes. i also have to take speech and pe. i want to get it done during the first year, since the second year is the killer!
