Hey, is there anyone who applied for Fall 2017 admission to LA County? Have you guys heard any news? has anyone called you? What are your thoughts?
Hi Dr2bScience,
For your information, I found this while doing my research on LA County before applying to the program years ago. LA County Nursing Program is in fact a public community college. I would suggest taking a step back and re-evaluating why you want to go to the LA County Nursing Program. A lot of information could be found on their website. Los Angeles County Department of Health Services-College of Nursing & Allied Health -About Us
I have taken classes at community colleges, and have had wonderful professors. Click the website below so you could see the successful pass rate with some of these community colleges. I agree with others who have commented about some people who just aren't great test takers. Your score on a test does not determine how great of a student or nurse you are. It is who you are, your personality and compassion towards caring for others. You shouldn't worry about grammar, believe me I made it through nursing school and they did not care about grammar. I have my MSN now, and worked with so many nurses who went to community colleges. Try not to judge others for going to community colleges, because I am sure you have been cared for by a great nurse who attended a community college.
Also, another word of advice. Nursing schools like to come on to allnurses to see what their students are posting, so be careful what you post.
Good luck everyone!
Just because you get straight A's did exceptionally well on the TEAs test does not make you a potentially great nurse. There are books smart people who excel in studies vs people are more hands on.
Hell I went to CSULA and was denied and told to change my major as I couldn't become a nurse since my grades weren't up to standards. Are they as competitive as you guys? Nope. Am I currently a nurse? Yes I am and have great feedback from pt, coworkers and my bosses.
I had the mentality of if I pass with C that's good enough! But once I got into the LVN program I was a A/B student.
Congrats :))) May I ask if you apllied to lvn to RN program or the ADN program :)
I applied to the ADN program! I saw they have a CSUN collaboration I haven't looked into it yet. I have mandatory orientation on May 5th. I'm just so scared cause I could still be denied even if I'm an alternate. My boyfriend's friend whose class president told me to just do everything before May 5th that way they can see how determine you are and perhaps they may consider me a spot.

I wonder what a nursing job is really like.. usually I just see them collecting urine, taking bp, and putting in ivs...It seems really basic...Maybe in critical care its harder.... Ha, I bet they'll just make us clean stuff...jk
