I went to church today and prayed that we all get accepted. If we don't get in, we thank God for the disappointments and failures that lead us to acknowledge that we can only depend on Him alone. Amen.

Prayers are very much appreciated! Thank you so much! I will go to Church soon, and I'll make sure I return the favor. THANK YOU again :)

Hello everyone :) Here I am still trying to figure out how many points I am applying with. I have a couple of questions: I took both Intro to Psych which Rio Hondo calls it Psych 101 and Lifespan Psych which Rio calls Psych 112. Which one is considered Psych 41 then? Then, what is the Humanities requirement? Which class(es) would that be? I was finally able to access my transcripts from Rio, yippee!
Psych 112 would be Lifespan. As for the other classes, any introductory course would satisfy the requirement e.g. American history would satisfy the history requirement.

Humanities would be philosophy, foreign languages, Chicano studies, African American studies, certain history and english courses..

With a 3.0 science gpa, an A in English, psych and all the general Ed courses, + 20 teas points, + 1 healthcare experience point, id guess you have about 76 points...Now don't let that scare you because I've seen people on these forums with points lower than the cutoff get in...And your teas score is very strong, probably in 90th percentile...And you have 700 hours of experience...They can't deny that youre a strong candidate...I'd say you're a better candidate than me even though I have 4 more points...So don't stress about it..And if you have to retake micro or physio again during the summer and get a A you'll def get in...I know illl just reapply if I don't get in. I'm not interested in any other school and im working now. I could use the time to save money...My transcript came late so I don't feel too confident..

That's a good question to ask the admission office..Can I get in with points below the cutoff score?

I once called to ask the lady what the cutoff score was for the last application cycle and she said 77 points

Their website says 78 to 82 points.

Yes, I am applying with 76 points. I do not mind if I have to wait until next year to get in. I would retake any of my Science classes in a heartbeat. I already took some classes that I didn't even need. I as well am working at the moment, and in school full time. I will be taking my NCLEX-PN sometime during June so I can start working as an LVN as soon as possible and next time I can apply into the bridge program. It would be AWESOME though if I can start the program this year so I am still hoping and praying that I make it in this time. Thank you so much for all your help; I really appreciate it :)

I forgot to mention that I did speak to my friend about her experience. She was confusing the orientation session with an interview. She says she remembers she went in with a group of people where the staff informed them of what it took to apply into the program and went through their packets to see if they had everything they needed to apply. Also, at the end, she says that a group of applicants (including her) stayed behind to ask all the questions they had. When she explained that to me, I told her that wasn't an interview, that was the orientation session. She had all A's in her classes including the Science. She thinks that what affected her was the fact that she did not obtain the 5 extra points in her TEAS.

You're welcome... Yeah, county is heavy on the teas.. I know an NP who works at lac/USC. She says they use it to weed people out. And I think they should. I took really professional science courses. I'm happy with my professors, the quality and my grades but there were other professors who told these girls who were failing that if they pass the final, he'll give them a B. Who does that? I know an English professor who accepted gift cards for higher marks..I think the teas is a fair way to decide who gets in.

There will certainly be times where things don't go as we hoped but with repeated trial and error we're bound to reach a splendid outcome eventually. So I'm just going to reapply if I don't get in... I can't go to community college. it's not college....

You know, I know some people who took the Science classes at this local community college. They were telling me how some of the professors there are very... how should I call it... laid back? They'd give them TAKE HOME exams to make up for time they missed in lecture (because the professor was absent a lot). Then, for the final, they would REVIEW, but basically the review consisted of getting most of the questions that were in the final. So, when I told them I had B's in my science classes, they'd tell me I should've taken them with them because it was very easy to get an A there.

That goes to show you why some of those students got less than 75% in their TEAS even though they have all A's in their science and the rest of their prerequisites. It just doesn't make sense, if you are able to get an A in a science class, that means you're smart enough to get at least a 75% in the TEAS. I may not have A's in my science classes, but I got a pretty darn good score in the TEAS. My highest score was English, my second was Science. That goes to show you that yes, I have B's in my Science classes, but I earned those grades. Nobody did me any favors, I actually studied and put in the time to deserve those grades. If county "weeds" out people based on their TEAS score, as your acquaintance says, I have even more respect for the school now.

I know, right?... I don't know how people can betray public trust so easily... And when administrators find out about this corruption nothing happens...They encourage cheating by not firing these people. These kids end up with skills that don't match their education... No wonder it's so hard for new grads to find a nursing job...There's no demand for new grads..

Community college just cares about growth..How many students they can get to attend...How much financial aid they can bilk....putting money into the school...they don't teach anything you haven't seen before or know.... It's high school all over again.... Failing students cuts into growth.... a lot of these professors have no real prospects in the job market.

They are just cheap labor.. most of them only make 20-30k.... cc wants to keep costs down...People with real skills are expensive to hire..they take pride in their skills and won't just pass you....Then they try to stand there and tell the students how dumb they are instead of guiding them..They just became professors to elevate their sense of self-importance.

LAC doesnt choose you based purely on just the TEAS score. As long as you passed with a 64.7% or up then you automatically get 15pts. or if you pass with 75% or up then you get an extra 5 pts so 20 pts possible for the TEAS on the 1st attempt only. your core bio gpa also plays a part, so having a 3.3 and up would def help your chance.

So get a 4.0 in everything and a 65 on the teas and you're all good? How come vnlaura's friend didnt get in? Well I'm just saying what she told me..She said they look at the teas harder than you think. We'll just have to wait and see..I'll be very suprised if vnlaura doesn't get in....

What is with all the community college bashing? I took all my prerequisites at PCC and the professors were great. My Anatomy professor is a chiropractor with his own practice. The man's knowledge of the human body is beyond impressive. He took pride in his work and held his class to a higher standard. His lectures were very in depth and the exams were incredibly thorough. My physiology and microbiology professors were also outstanding. As a college student, you take away what you put into your education. YOU choose your own class schedule. YOU choose your professors, and there are resources which can guide you towards a great professor.

For the science portion of the Teas, I watched some YouTube review videos and looked at some of my old notes. I took the Teas at County the morning after a 12 hr night shift and scored 85. Needless to say, coffee saved the day.

My point is that I felt very comfortable with my core science education that I took the exam with no sleep and didn't find it difficult at all. Community college can be wonderful if you are willing to put in the work and choose to optimize your schedule. I believe community college can be a great option for many. I would hate for anyone on here to read these posts for guidance and be misinformed.
