Los Angeles County of Nursing - Fall 2014

Published

This is for those of us that will be applying to LA county college of nursing and allied health's fall 2014 semester. I will be submitting my application for the basic RN program tomorrow... Yayyy!!! I am beyond excited, I can't believe this time has finally come!

You have to call human resources to schedule the appointment when you finish the online part. I scheduled mine for the next available appointment which is July 8th.

I wish they gave us a checklist so that we dont miss anything but I guess we will figure it out as we go. Basically call ---------------tomorrow and let her know that you finished the HR form online, she will then check it and give you the phone # live scan services to schedule a date and time. When I called live scan services I asked for the first date available and they said next Thursday.

Thank you for this information! I will call her tomorrow! Yes, a checklist would be great!

Hello all,

LVN-RN student here! Just thought I'd share some info about what needs to be done. Yes, you are right about two TB tests. They do them at employee health or you can get it done by your doctor. Also, Smylee, after completing the online live scan you must call ----------- at the school and she would take note then give you the number for HR. then you call HR make an appt. Then call her back to tell her your appt. After your live scan appt you wait for a call from HR to tell you it cleared. I think it took about 1-2 weeks for me. After that you make an appt. with employee health for your health clearance and any requirements you need they will do for you. After the health clearance they will print out health clearance confirmation that you will take back to the school. Then you wait until you get an email from ------- telling you your badge is ready for pick up. For me it took less then 24 hrs after turning in the health clearance to the school. Also, the picture taken for live scan is the one that will be used on your ID. Then there is the curriculum plan agreement (not sure if you guys need this) that for us we got at registration and basically just go into the office and tell ------------- that you're ready to go over it and all it is is her going over your pre requisites that are required to be taken either before or during certain semesters like humanities, speech etc. Then she will sign it off. Also any pending transcripts say from spring or summer should be sent asap even if none of them are pre reqs for this school. Then there was the tuition agreement plan which most of us got signed at registration which basically defers the other $1700/semester saying you'll pay it back if you don't get a healthcare job with county within 1 year after graduation. Then there is , supplies, books, etc. And I haven't heard anything about uniforms yet. I think that's it, not sure you all have other requirements or things to do. I hope this helped!

Thanks lovemy3boys&1girl!!! This totally helps. Question: did you take the "non-county packet" with you during your live scan appointment? I was told by live scan not to but ---------- told me to take it.

Hahaha...too funny! I used to do the same thing before the open enrollment for Fall 2014...I was obsessed. Now that I am accepted and starting very soon...it's truly a dream come true. It still seems unreal at times. I've been a stalker since I found out about LAC-USC's nursing program about 4 years ago :roflmao:

That's me too. I've literally read the student handbook, the theory handouts, the syllabi-including the 66 page med surg one and everything else I can soak into my brain.

I called -------- and she gave me the number to HR to schedule my live scan. I'm scheduled for July 10th. Whoohooo! Thanks everyone who gave me the information on what to do! :)

Hi all, I'm trying to purchase some of the required text books and I'm having a problem with the 2 volume book...The isbn number is not the same as the handout. Do you think it's safe to buy the book anyway ( title, edition, and author are the same)?

Not a problem I am happy to help! I took the pack with me and HR also told me I didn't need it, they gave me forms to fill out but I would take it just to be cautious. And same with the employee health, they give you the papers to fill out bur it helped that I had the ones we got from school filled out so I could copy quickly.

Ber, about the book I believe there is a one volume edition which is the same info. If the title author and edition are the same then its the same book probably just the one large volume version.
