Los Angeles City College-Fall 2014 Applicants

Hello future nurses!

I am starting this new thread for everybody that is planning to apply to LACC's nursing program for Fall 2014. How many of you are planning to apply for Fall 2014? I'll be finishing my last prerequisite (chemistry) this winter and hope to apply in February. Good luck to us all!

I haven't heard anything yet. Do you know of anyone who has received an acceptance call yet? I'm hoping they haven't gotten to that yet and I'll still get a phone call. Wishful thinking. ..

Unfortunately, I do know someone who got her acceptance call a week ago :-(. That's why I am so worried. I hope they haven't gotten to call everybody yet, but honestly, I doubt it. I hope I am wrong.

I am officially stalking my mailman :-). Still nothing for me either. I just want to know already :banghead:

I just called them. She said 44 people must decline their spot. She said, 44 is a good number since they have much more than 44 alternates. But, common guys, 44!!! Thats pretty much a rejection. There's no way 44 alternates will give up their spot, PLUS people who already accepted Into their program. I guess I will wait for LAVC, Pierce. If no, maybe county will accept me. I hate to wait sooooo long.

Whaaaaaat? That is not what the counselor told us at the orientation. That just doesn't make any sense. Wow! Then why do they even bother assigning those crazy alternate numbers. it's not like the whole program will give up their spot.

It is just beyond ridiculous, the whole lottery process. Grades and teas results don't count. If you barely made the cut with 2.5 GPA, you are all good.

Ah, well, unfortunately, there is nothing we can do about it, no matter how frustrating it is. I can't believe she told you that 44 is a good number, haha. But, yeah she is right about some people getting worse numbers, like my friend with her 76 number. All in all, with those crazy numbers, at least we can know if we still have chance or not. Some colleges just tell you that you are alternate, no numbers, so we would be in the dark, At least, knowing that you are a number 44 tells you your chances of getting in.

Still no mailman is sight. I still don't know my status.

Hi all. I got notified for LACC and I'm in. Since I got accepted at a nursing program closer to home, I will be forfeiting my spot at LACC.

From what I remember, the counselor said that they start giving alternate numbers after 40...so 41, 42, 43, all the way to 131. So I'm confused if 44 is good or not.

Anyways I know I'm giving my spot to someone who may really need is. Good luck!

How did you get notified margaret94? Did you get your letter in the mail, or a call from them? And when did you find out? I am still waiting. Congrats again, must be a great feeling

THANKS so much! The wait is finally over. They mailed me a letter, and I received it yesterday. Ahhh you should totally call them to see what's up. I mean they should have a list of the 131 in order at the office and tell you what number you are....

If I don't get my letter today (the mailman sometimes comes late in the afternoon), I will call them first thing in the morning.

I am IN! YAAAAAAAAY! I am beyond happy and excited. Thank God! I was so sure I was not in due to the lottery system, but I got the best surprise ever in that little envelope. The wait was worth it. Woo-Hoo!

I hope everybody else get their acceptances at some of the colleges applied. Fingers crossed for all!
