Looking for Summer Nursing Internship

Does anyone have a link where I can look for summer nursing internship programs? I am in my second semester and would love to travel somewhere great and get some much needed experience. Any help would be apperciated!

You know, it may be very hard to find a place as many Nurse practice acts prohibit student nurses from doing nursing procedures/docs/etc. unless with program instructors/time.....I'd imagine it'd be a tough sell, especially trying to travel somewhere non-local. Maybe a hospital system trying to gain some employees 1-2 years down the road. Get in touch with some HR people, just don't get your hopes up.

I have seen a few for Mayo and Mt Sinai in New York. I am figuring you are basically like a CNA or patient aide. Most of them require that you complete your Junior year and have two rounds of clinicals.

I don't know of any links to find nursing internships/externships. I would suggest contacting hospitals or visiting websites of hospitals in areas that you are interested in. That's how I found the externship I did with UCLA this past summer.

If I remember right they have a few places listed on the NSNA website.

The Texas Medical Center in Houston has a lot. I did the one at St Luke's this past summer and it was amazing.

Hello,

I will be graduating this coming december from nursing school and i wanted to find out if anyone knows any GRADUATE NURSE INTERNSHIP PROGRAMS OR website where i could get this information. I am interested in HOUSTON, TEXAS but i would not mind locating to other places

yep amd in 2010 bout to be 2011, there is few externships available. ive only seen the methodist and mdanderson and st lukes offer it. the methodist is the only one that goes into detail about their program though on the website.

I noticed you mentioned that you did St. Luke's summer extern program in the past. I already submitted my application but have not heard back for an interview or anything. I was wondering if you had any advice about how to obtain this position. This sounds like an amazing experience and I hope I am fortunate enough to be accepted. I would appreciate any advice you can give :)

I'd just call and follow up. I chalk it up to luck and good grades for getting the interview but this was 5 years ago...it was a great experience though!
