Good evening everyone,
i attended an Lpn school here in Philly completed the program graduated September this year. my class was told that we needed to get a 70.7 on our ati predictor to pass the exit exam and to get Registered for state boards. I failed the exit exam 4 times. I passed on the 5th try with a 71.3 which states on my ati that I have a 91% chance of passing state boards. Well now the don has decided as of October 1st we need a 73.3 to pass with an additional 10points ! Yes the don wants us to get a 83.3 on the predictor in order to get registered for state boards. This is very frustrating and discouraging as I was told one thing and out of no where I'm being told something totally different. I was given 3 options by the don
1. Get the 73.3/83.3
2. Pay out of pocket for a 3rd party review and submit certification
3. Retake 5th term all over again
see the problem is the don has registered a few of my other classmates with a 70.7 and when I bought this to her attention her response was o well the school is on provision and this is what I came up with to submit to the board so that the school can stay open. So now I'm mad as hell and feel like I basically wasted my time and is now out of 27,000 dollars. My question is have anyone gone through the same thing if not something similar or know of anyone who's gone through what I'm going through ? And if so what was your/their solution. And if you guys think I have good cause to contact a lawyer ?

Looking for legal advice? Call a lawyer. Sincerely, a former paralegal.

Yeah, we can't give legal advice. However, I'd listen to her other choices and take one. But if you really want to see a lawyer, get an opinion from a local nurse atty at TAANA, The American Association of Nurse Attorneys, at TAANA Executive Office - Home

Best bet is to talk to a lawyer. You may or may not have a case. I'm not a lawyer so I do not know.

Yes see a lawyer but if this is a for-profit trap cut to the chase and obtain two things:
1. A copy of your school records that contain all preadmission paperwork, grades, etc.
2. Make sure the mateials also include the "arbitration agreement" you nonchalantly signed. This is a for-profit's get out of jail free card as it legally binds you to give up your rights to be heard by a jury of your peers (which you would win) and forces you into an ADR (which you will lose).
If you have these materials in hand prior to seeing a lawyer, he/she will be able to cut to the chase and tell you which way to go.
Caveat: 99% of the for-profits employ the ADR clause as a condition of enrollment. You can imagine how students feel when they've been overpromised, deceived and then dumped with tons of debt and no degree.
