Lonestar Spring 2012 Hopefuls

Anyone applying?

My friend from cyfair nursing program said that she did not use the access code fir her nutrition book so it would be okay to buy the older edition.

Are you guys going to purchase Fund. of Success and Test Success? I'm kinda confused about those because in the list of requirements it says we have to buy the current edition, but then down below in the list it gives you the option to buy the digital edition (which is an old edition of the same book). So I just copied the ISBN of the old edition books and looked for them on ebay and I found books starting at $3. So now I'm not sure about what should I get

To be on the safe side, I just entered ISBN listed on the textbook requirement page and purchased them on Amazon. If I buy older editions and find out they have no access codes or no cd's etc, it would take me more time to sort things out ,and we don't have time to waste since we have loads of homework to do before 1st of class.

@alex1987 yes I bought them since they're under the required list...

They should have explained to us better about textbooks and other stuff at the orientation but she was hurrying to just finish it off....

I did not purchase that Fund of Success or Test Success either... they looked like books just to help us take tests but not books needed for the class, but I'm not sure, if someone could email Kim and ask, that would be great! I already emailed her three times this weekend lol.

And your friend did not use the access code for Nutrition? Man... yeah i wish they would be more specific in what we need.. could save us SOO much money..

@thehopeful That's exactly what I thought... Fund. of Success and Test Success shouldn't be required for the class since they aren't textbooks but study guides to help us with test taking techniques and that kind of things. It should be up to us whether or not we want to buy them. I think I'm just going to follow my instincts and buy the old editions instead of the most expensive new ones. I don't want to email Ms. Anderson either... almost every time I email her I get no response.

Yeah I haven't gotten a response yet. I WANT to ask her about the access codes but I already ordered Nutrition. I'm borrowing a Health Assessment book though and it says that comes with an Access Code which I won't have. So I'll have to find a way to get that separately if needed :(

I was planning on not buying Fund of Success and Test Success yet too. BLEH I wish I knew :hlk:

Yes, I had asked her if the nutrition book has to have the access code and she said she had never used the code. I also brought the health assessment book from a student in his 2nd semester at cyfair and he said that with the textbook, just find the older edition. He said he used the older edition and it was fine. The only thing is some of the chapters are switch around so he just needed to look for it. I'm planning to do the same thing and just buy the older edition on some of the books because it would save a tremendous amount of money for me since i'm paying everything out of pocket.

:yeah:oh god is listening alright...strict instructions were given...judge not lest you be judged! aka whatever judgement you pass on others will come back to haunt you. call it karma, fate, or just plain never say never but come back to bite your booty!!

btw, i speak from personal experience on the above matter! lol

I received fund of success and test success textbooks today. I was expecting 100 or so pages, but it is more like around 400~600? pages (i haven't opened them yet, it is based on thickness of the book).

Someone help me out~~~

Is this required textbook for RNSG 1209 as well?

TITLE:Fundamentals of Nursing: The Art and Science of Nursing Care

FORMAT:CaféScribe Format

AUTHOR:Taylor

EDITION:1st

COPYRIGHT YEAR:2010

PUBLISHER:Lippincott Williams & Wilkins

ISBN:9781609136680

DIGITAL:$111.99

And where can I find textbook information for RNSG 1144 and 1146? they're not showing up when I searched on my lonestar page.

Also why is RNSG 1105 and 1209 requiring same textbook but different editions? They both listed Nutrition Essentials for Nursing Practices but RNSG 1105 listed 3rd edition and RNSG 1209 listed 6th edition w/access code.... Do we still have to buy both of them?

Hello, I currently live in Denver and will be moving to Houston May 2012. Im in my last pre req here and am looking for nursing schools in Houston. Does Lonestar have anything near downtown Houston or close by? I dont mind a minimal commute but dont want to spend an hour driving.

Welcome to Houston! If you're looking for community college nursing schools in the inner city I would suggest HCC Coleman Center, Lonestar is more for the outter City limits (Northern/NWest/NEast-ern). Thats why all campuses are more towards the outter parts of Houston. HCC is mostly inner city. There's also San Jacinto Community College and they have a Nursing program but againt thats a little further out but in the South/SouthEast outter city parts. Hope that helps.

Oh! And which ever you choose, make sure the school is in district otherwise they might charge you more per credit hour.
