lonestar nursing 2014 hopeful

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hi, just wanted to start a post about my process of applying at lonestar. Hope to hear from other applicants! I have just taken my HESI and will be applying for the spring semester with a score of 11.54

What do I do if someones blue card with their name but my address has come to my house? I'm not sure how bc I have not even requested a background check yet. I am a CNA so that may be how they have my info but I don't want to be the reason someone doesn't get in!

I would definitely call the BON and let them know.

If you find out please share. I've asked repeatedly with no suitable answers from the dept head.

Echo, I found this info on a prior cyfair post for students starting Spring 2013.

This post is for the cy-fair students-

Here's the homework we got in the fall (it's probably going to be the same for spring tho) :

RNSG 1209 (Intro to Nursing) -

Read Chitty book, chapters 1-3, 5-7 and 14-16

also download and read Texas Board of Nursing (Nurse Practice Act)

RNSG 1115 (Health Assessment) -

Read Weber and Kelley Book, chapters 1-6 and 9-12

Read Taylor et al., Chapter- Nurse as a communicator

RNSG 1105 (Nursing Skills I) -

Read Taylor, chapters 21, 26, 27 (all except sterile technique) and 33

Read Lynn chapter 4 (4-1, 4-2, 4-7)

Self study and Review Pickar chapter 1 (fractions and decimals)

Class schedule we had:

Monday- 9-11:30 or 12:30-3 (Health Assessment 8/27-12/16)

Tuesday- 9-11:30 or 12:30-3 (Nursing Skills I 8/27-10/21 & Nursing Skills II 10/22-12/16)

Wednesday- 9-11:30 or 12:30-3 (Nursing Skills I 8/27-10/21 & Nursing Skills II 10/22-12/16)

Friday - 8-12 or 12-4 (Intro to Nursing 8/27-10/21)

Online- Legal and Ethical Issues for Nurses (10/22-12/16)

Also about the book cds.... I'm almost done with my first semester finals and I have not used the cds once this semester. I have however used the online access codes that come with the book (the little scratch off code that's written on the inside cover) but it's not mandatory, I just used it for practice questions just in case.

besides having everything on certified profile checked off, is there anything else that we need to do...I know about giving the nursing department are blue card or bon letter but just want to make sure I am not missing something....do we need to share the documents on the site or what? and how do I do that

so there seems to be a lot of books that are recommended....I am wondering which ones will be worth it

I need to open the book list she emailed out on my computer. I cannot understand what the heck it says on my iPhone.

I shared my documents with the nursing dept. The only thing undone is the insurance which she said to hold off on and I just sent a scanned copy of my blue card today so I'm all set! :)

Has anyone received their loans? I spoke with the financial aid office and they said we have to wait to be registered for classes..

You normally don't receive loans until classes start I think.

You can apply for FAFSA financial aid now though. If you qualify, Pell Grants are nice

I know I have grant and loan money for the spring semester. But financial aid will say that is your anticipated amount for whatever reason. Yes, a fasfa needs to be completed before any financial aid will appear.

Sorry guys, what I meant was are you guys able to see how much loans you will get for the Spring semester? I was already approved for Pell Grants and just recently filled out the MPN, so I was wondering when to expect to see how much I will be able to receive in loans.

Yeah I see how much I will be getting in pell and subsidized loans but I am just waiting to see how much tuition is going to cost alone. I never had a full schedule so I am curious to see how much it is.
