  1. What is the date of this email? I seem to either be overlooking it while searching my inbox or I didn't receive it at all.
  2. Still trying to figure out how to get foot in door. Figuring resume needs adjustment, hospitals seem to pass so many applicants over and the damn "New Grad Residency" program is such a bottleneck. #frustrated
  3. I graduated with my RN here in Houston and was accepted into UT Health Science Center - Houston RN-BSN program (early decision) While I know the program isn't identical as UT Arlington (a more commonly discussed program here online i.e. AllNurses, Reddit, etc), I'm not getting much feedback from anywhere else on some inquiries I have. A lot of info available online discusses traditional Accelerated BSN or normal BSN programs and their course load. What I am curious to hear from any nurses here is how is this or any RN-BSN program across 3 semesters? I'm not afraid of the workload, just anxious to dive in and knock it out. On the other hand, I was asked today by the Administrative Coordinator if I'd be interested in taking a 2 semester accelerated online program (new to Houston) where it's split 15 and 16 credits, same classes as the 3 semester program and wondering how feasible this is. RN-BSN Program - Prospective Student - The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) School of Nursing Looking for your input having taking a similar program through a UT campus and how feasible (sane?) it would be to attempt the 2 semester accelerated route. One last thing. Tips on patho? Thanks in advance
  4. I am an Amazon Prime member, book ended up getting misrouted. Amazon has already compensated. C'est la vie.
  5. The patches are merely a CYA for the school and the clinical sites we'll eventually be in; easy to ID a student since no one else wears patches on their scrubs. In the lab, it's obvious we're all students and thus don't really 'need' said patches and since we only wear our black scrubs in the clinicals, it makes no sense to sew/iron them onto regular color scrubs that we'll never wear into the clinical sites as students. No on the reading, unfortunately, my books don't get delivered until tomorrow, Amazon is dicking the dog in regards to shipping. Tomorrow is primarily going to be Welcome, here's the syllabus, lets all introduce ourselves, sing kumbaya, and explain the rules, requirements, expectations, etc.
  6. Scrubs don't require the patches until clinicals begin. It is an identifier while in the hospital or LTAC. Which is why we are permitted to wear any solid color scrubs for labs (these don't need the patch at all)
  7. Just threw the price tag in so students are aware of what I am talking about
  8. CyFair students. If you were not aware yet, the lab packs ($169) are not available in the bookstore and will be obtained via the nursing dept next week

Also, I omitted the Nursing Care Planning as I already owned it. Granted there are options to purchase used books and/or to rent, however, most of these books are cross used between the classes and some may roll over into the following semester. As is typical with textbooks, don't expect to get jack-$hit back. Either way, Amazon had all but 2 in stock with free 2-day delivery if a Prime Member, the other two books will arrive next Wednesday, so such is life, the professors understand the availability limitations of books and/or finances. The only other items necessary are patience and thick skin, nursing school is a marathon not a sprint and it's cut throat and tedious and requires you be able to roll with the punches, bite your tongue, and take a lot of flak from peers, professors, nurses, patients, doctors, and the like. Enjoy the final weekend, say goodbye to social lives, free time, sleep, and sanity.
  10. It's nursing school... Not a fashion show
  11. Only if you want them to fall off the 1st time you wash your scrubs, and wash them often you will... or burn them, depending on the bodily fluids you come in contact with.
  12. I guess CyFair is still in the 17th century
