    The patches are merely a CYA for the school and the clinical sites we'll eventually be in; easy to ID a student since no one else wears patches on their scrubs. In the lab, it's obvious we're all students and thus don't really 'need' said patches and...

    Scrubs don't require the patches until clinicals begin. It is an identifier while in the hospital or LTAC. Which is why we are permitted to wear any solid color scrubs for labs (these don't need the patch at all)

    Only if you want them to fall off the 1st time you wash your scrubs, and wash them often you will... or burn them, depending on the bodily fluids you come in contact with.
