lonestar nursing 2014 hopeful

Published

Hi, just wanted to start a post about my process of applying at lonestar. Hope to hear from other applicants! I have just taken my HESI and will be applying for the spring semester with a score of 11.54

What a bummer!!! Now that I'm so close, here's another hurdle. Worst case scenario, I'll have to save up some money from working before the program starts to pay for my classes, but it's like gosh!

For those waiting on appeals, they have changed the appeals process This semester. It is no longer done at the college financial aid level. It is now done at a system level, with all sites meeting at one meeting. I was very fortunate to have most of my program fin aid approved except my last semester. That will be all out of pocket. Working more than 10-20 hours will be difficult during the program. I highly suggest you do not rule out Universities. Prairie View offers great scholarships and your cost of tuition will be about the same of LSCS if you qualify for these Scholarships. Apply for the Universities and Lonestar.

How many hours had you had for max time frame if that was the reason if you don't mind me asking.

Specializes in neonatal, oncology.

Of course. However, I do not have the time to wait for the Universities and the madness involved with their selection processes. I gotta finish, even if it means I have to sacrifice my sleep and sanity. My husband has a decent job, which is a blessing, and I can save up from now until the fall if necessary. I've applied to UTHSC as well, but I'm not gonna hold my breath. I know I'll get accepted to Lone Star, since I have before; I'm just ready to be done with school already, so if some sacrifices have to be made, I'm gonna have to make them.

Hello! I was wondering if anyone knew how long a D.O. takes? I have to fax one over tomorrow and the program starts July 28th. Would it be back in time? Did anyone submit one and know about how long it takes?

If your talking about a "declarative order", it takes about 4 mo. Mine took 4 mo to the day. Good luck.

Thank u were you still able to be in the nursing program?

Hey guys, how are things going in the program? I applied for the Spring 2015 with high hopes. Any feedback is appreciated.

I think that is kind of harsh to drug test us on our very first meeting.....It's like hi, nice to meet you....Oh by the way can you pee in this cup for a drug test.....lol

Was the drug test done in a private bathroom during orientation (like at labcorp), or will it be done in front of the surscan test administrators (ex: in the regular bathroom stalls)? I cannot use the restroom with people watching me and would like to know how they administered the tests on campus. Also around when during the 1st week of school did they administer the tests to the alternates? Was it the first day, was it first thing in the morning, did they pull people out of class, etc.?
