Lonestar nursing applicants for spring 2016

Published

Hi guys! I will be applying for lonestar cyfair and a few others in the spring of 2016. I was wondering if anyone had started studying for the hesi and also what grades have they gotten so far in their classes!

Holly, I'm not sure why your advisor would try to scare you like that. You will not have a problem adding PHIL in there as long as you don't have any special circumstances at home. A&P I is not easy but you can easily make an A if you put the time into it. I see the A&P II with Micro as the bigger problem. Those two together would make for a not so fun semester. Do not take any science or math courses that are not required if you don't plan to go straight through to the BSN. A lot of schools have a limit on how many years those classes are counted. Most are 5 years but I have seen 3 and 10 as well. All of the others are fine (phil, hist, govt.). I have taken almost all 60 hours in three semesters (including summer and mini terms) and I have a really good friend that has taken them all over 3 years. It really depends on how you manage your time and how dedicated you are. Don't forget that there is free tutoring in a lot of subjects at LoneStar if you need it.

Good luck to you!

@James Oakes I took 19 hours in a semester once. It was not the best choice but I am certainly glad that I did it! A&P II, Stats, Hist II, Comp II, Am. Govt., and Theater (which ended up requiring the most work, brat teacher).

Thank ya'll!! Okay so if I were to just take the adn courses how would you split them? A&P 1 ENGL 1301, Psyc 1301, A&P 2, PHIL 1301, Micro, and Pharmacology

I really wanted to be done in time for the August 2016 programs but if not for sure the 2017 kingwood program!!

PS: James I followed the thread from when you were applying and I couldn't stop reading until I saw you got in lol I was so excited for you!!! Congrats btw((:

Hi! I'm a Kingwood applicant too! I still haven't taken my HESI yet so I'm a nervous wreck!! I plan to study this week and take it next week!!

Hi guys! I'm thinking about applying for the Cyfair spring program as well. I was wondering though, does anybody know on average how many applicants are accepted for the spring semester and on average how many apply? Also, does it take a long time for documents to be processed? I already applied into the school but have to send over my transcript and HESI score. I'm worried mostly about the HESI score taking long to get sent over on time before the deadline. September will be here before we know it! Also, is it required to go to an information session? I don't even know if they have them at all. I just started this whole process yesterday...

Also! How long after the deadline do they begin to send out acceptances/declines?

Hello! I've been following this thread for a while and decided to finally make an account. I'm hoping to be able to apply for the Spring 2016 ADN program at Cy Fair, but that all depends on my HESI...I have an A in English and an A in A&P, but the first time I took the HESI exam I studied for over a month. I bought the recommended book, I bought multiple Iphone apps that were reccommended for HESI review, I looked through Quizlet, I literally did everything I could possible think of to do and made A's in every section except I made a 73 in A&P!!! I was completely crushed and am feeling really discouraged about taking it again knowing I tried so hard the first time and literally not even half the test was anything that I had studied and there were so random and specific questions I just panicked. Does anyone have any other recommendations? It's a different test the second time, right? Any encouraging advice would help!!! :(

Winemo,

Dont worry I think your documents will be processed in time. You can always call and ask, or ask them to email you when they have gotten it. They accept 80 students for Spring, and I know I've heard of there being 300 applicants at one point. An information session isn't required. You can go to get some questions answered but they have an orientation in December where they answer any questions you have after being accepted. Usually acceptance emails are sent out in mid to late October.

@JamesOakes - Thank you for all the info! Yes, I'll be giving them a call today just to double check what all would they need from me to complete the application process and exactly what prerequisites are required to apply (as in classes)... I can't seem to find it on their website. I don't remember if it's Lone Star or another program that has a 60 day waiting period to retake the HESI so if I go by my first attempt I have a 7.44/8 (93%). I'm hoping that will be good enough!! :/ I just want to get into a Spring program somewhere and get this going!!

Hi There, i took my Hesi test 10 days ago, having my score at 7.41, I'm so anxiety now. I have all my transcript entered into the system, still i couldn't access though the online application. Have emailed them a couples of times but no progress now. I will go to the campus and hope someone can help solving it. Anyone has an experience applying for the ADN program yet?could anyone share something, I'm so worry as the deadline is coming :(

Hey yall I just turned in my application today at kingwood. Total score of 6.46 with 890 critical thinking. Here's to wishful thinking! 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Is critical thinking required?
