Hi guys! I will be applying for lonestar cyfair and a few others in the spring of 2016. I was wondering if anyone had started studying for the hesi and also what grades have they gotten so far in their classes!
Hi Sadie,
Im assuming you are referring to clinicals. Clinical sites are assigned randomly, but you are able to switch clinicals with another student if you both agree to and notify the instructors. The facilities we were offered were HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital in Humble, and Kindred Hopsital in both Spring and Tomball. So those three different sites were our options. I was personably placed at HealthSouth.
Hi Nataly,
The only RNSG course you can take outside of the program is Pharmacology which I believe is RNSG 1301. If you haven't taken it, your score will not be affected whatsoever, BUT you will be automatically enrolled in it your first semester. I didn't take Pharmacology outside of the program so I had to take it along with my other nursing classes. The people that took it already didn't. It's a little extra work but it's really not that bad.
dehear4,
Log into myLonestar, in the left column you'll see a "My Classes" tab, open that and click "View Unofficial Transcript". Next, in the drop box for Report Type select which type you want (I submitted the unofficial and they accepted that). Wait for about 30 seconds and on the screen you will have the option to view the report. Click "View Report" and you can print it. Make sure you don't have pop-up blocker enabled.
I am interested in applying to the Kingwood location. I am a Lonestar student but I have never looked into their nursing program. My goal is UTHSC-Houston and I have completed all but 2 classes. I will not find out of I have been accepted until end of October, first of November. I was thinking kingwood would be a good alternative.
My GPA is 3.95 overall/4.0 in sciences (finishing chemistry now) then I will be core complete, YAY!
My Hesi scores are
A&P-100
Math-100
Vocab-90
Grammer-96
Reading Comprehension-94
CT-900
Can someone tell me if I would be wasting my time and money applying to Kingwood?
Does anyone know anybody who has done the RN TO BSN through lonestar and UTHSC-H?
BTW. You guys sound like you are doing amazing! You should all be proud!
Hey, I'm Holly!!
I have a question about prerequisites, In what order did you take them and did you just take adn prereqs or did you add in some of the bsn classes? Right now I am registered to take A&P 1 ENGL 1301 and Psyc 1301 I would like to add another class to be considered full time but with adn I'm only left with A&P 2, PHIL 1301, Micro, and Pharmacology. Did ya'll stretch the courses out over several semester or complete them in just 2?? I was told this morning by an advisor that the classes are so hard that most students only take a couple at a time? Please let me know how you stacked them and if you thought full time was doable. Thank you!(:
-Holly
Hey Holly!
As far as pre-reqs, take however many you want, but make sure you know how much work you will be responsible for. I did take a few BSN classes before entering the program, but since we have summers off between semesters in the ADN program, you have the opportunity to take any of those additional BSN courses during that time. A lot of us nursing students did that this summer. Personally, I took Micro, Lifespan Psych, Statistics, Sociology, and an Arts course all at once. To be honest it's not hard if you put in the time. I'd recommend taking Pharmacology before entering the program. It's the only nursing course you can take outside of the program. If you don't take it outside, you are automatically enrolled into it the first semester of the program. It's a lot of busy work, and got annoying.
P.S. The advisors always advise you to take the lightest workload because they don't want you to end up making grades you weren't aiming for.

Hi!
Well the application period for Fall is only Kingwood and Cyfair campuses, which is why when you select which campus you want as your first choice, you're only allowed to pick the other.
Kingwood accepted 80 students in total, which is divided into 40 student in the day classes, and 40 students in the night classes.
I believe it is the same for Cyfair, 80 students. It is competitive but you just have to be optimistic! I've scrolled through this thread and things are a little different scoring-wise. When I applied it was based on a 12 point scale, and I think as low as 10.5 got accepted. Just be hopeful!
