Lonestar 2014 Fall Hopefuls!

Ok I know it's very early starting this but I am so excited I couldn't help it! Application period doesn't even start until January! My journey has been a long one and I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel so I am sharing a little of that experience here and I would love to hear from others as well.

I just received my clearance letter from the BON so I am clear to apply in January for North Harris and Montgomery ADN programs, unfortunately I missed Kingwood. At this point I have an 11.1 and I'm about to retake the HESI so we shall see what is in store for me. I'm done with all my pre-reqs for my BSN and I'm so ready to start the next phase of my education and get on with more taking care of people! It's been 25 years since I decided I wanted to be a nurse. Twenty years of raising my kids, taking care of soldiers' families and single soldiers and eight years of riding in an ambulance later, I'm ready to follow my dream! Watch me go!

My friend that graduated from North Harris told me that since the learning structure is different there that it is more tough and since they accept so many students their graduation rate is only at about half. I can't remember how it is different she said it's something like instead of learning a certain subject all at once it is spaced out or something like that.[/quote']

Yes they are different. From what I understand, Cyfair's program is blocked - taught by subject. The other programs are integrated - taught from simple to complex throughout each subject in the program.

Thanks for sharing. I know what you mean. I once was accepted into a nursing school in a different state, but could not finish it. I recall that there was a lot of work and it was demanding. I hope you are connected with other students at the school. Try to get connected with the positive students. This will help carry you through. Focus on winning and may you be a winner. Best Wishes!

So my VN program called and told me that my score was dropped a point because I have taken intro to anatomy and also anatomy 1 I received a B in biol 2404 but an A in 2401 in order for them to take the A I had to have taken ap 2 which is in progress so they took my B for the application because I haven't taken AP 2 I'm super bummed

(((HUGS))) for you Yazi. Keep your chin up, you're still in the running! The fat lady hasn't sang yet and even if she does doncha dare get discouraged! All things happen for a reason. If it doesn't happen this time for some reason then there's a better chance waiting for you! In the mean time you can keep biting your nails through this fun waiting time with the rest of us! If nothing else we can make each other laugh about it!

It's only been one week and I am now starting to get antsy! At first I was ok with the wait but not so much now. Another dreaded 3 weeks of waiting is going to drive me insane! Lol

Hi everyone! Can someone please tell me when we will be getting our notifications to see if we got accepted or not? I called and the lady said to continue checking my email. So I dont really know when to expect my notice.

If you haven't heard by April 15 call them. That is what I was told. Keep checking. It will be this week or next but give them until April 15. Then definitely call them.

Yazi just keep hoping for the best. The one thing you are doing is finishing your pre refs so you know that's not your final score. When I didn't make it in last semester I was devastated but then I realized that, that didn't matter I was not going to give up until I was in this nursing program!! Pray for the best but know that by next semester you will have an awesome score and will get in. Don't count yourself out this semester though you are definitely still in the running! Almost all alternates got in last semester!

I really hope we hear something this week though but I have a feeling it is gonna be next week. She told me early April :(

But I honestly don't see what ap 2 has to do with it regardless of what I get in ap2 i already have the A which is what they want so what does it matter if I get A or B they take the higher one of the two I already have the higher one I'm just a little mad. And she told me we would hear this week or the beginning of next
