Lonestar Fall 2013 hopefuls

Hi everyone!

I just submitted my application for the Fall 2013 Lonestar College basic track ADN program. LSC-Montgomery is my first choice, followed by LSC-North Harris, and LSC-Tomball.

I applied with an 11.81. Has anyone else out there applied, or are you preparing to apply?

Looking forward to starting a supportive and informative Lonestar thread, as applicants have the past few years

Hi everyone!

I am having trouble finding a flu vaccine! It is the last thing on my checklist. It seems silly to get a flu vaccine between seasons, but apparently we must. Does anyone know where to find one? Possibly somewhere inexpensive that doesn't require an actual office visit.

I received an email today from the nursing dept. at Cyfair that said the new due date for it is Sept. 1st because the new vaccines for 2013 is not available yet. I was literally next in line at the Walgreens Clinic to have mine done today when I got the email. I thought I was going to have to get last years vaccine. So glad I heard my phone ding that I had a new email message. This was an email from the "CYFAIR" location, so if this isn't your school, then I would double check with your department for due dates.

Do we have to get a flu shot ? I'm going to MoCo, and it's not on my list...

Thank you! I am going to Cyfair as well, and had been checking my email religiously. I too received the email today. Thank goodness, because I did not want to waste money on last seasons shot either. In the email it says that classes will start 8/26. Does that mean that we will not have any summer classes or training at all?

That's correct, we do not have any summer classes. Our program starts in the fall. I verified this with the nursing dept. a few weeks ago.

For MoCo, I believe they said we would have to get it in September before clinical starts since that is when the new vaccine comes out.

Hello, what sites are you guys using to get books? Textbooks.com is pricey on some books I'm wondering are there cheaper places.

Im a medical assistant and my next step is LPN or ADN. Im new to this, how do i get started?what class should I take, and Im debating between lonestar PVU but does anybody know of good school to start my class at?

Hi everyone. I have two questions for y'all.

1. Is anyone considering waiting to buy books until we have been given our schedules? I'm considering buying books just for the Falls semester first.

2. Does anyone have an idea of how much Houston hospitals are paying experienced CNAs/PCTs?

Hey guys! I emailed NH and she said street clothes are ok for summer course so far, if they decide differently they will send out an email
