Lonestar 2011 ADN Hopefuls

Published

I didn't see a thread on here for Fall 2011 applicants to the Lonestar nursing program, so I decided to start one.:) I will be applying to Montgomery as my first choice and am really nervous about taking the HESI test with all of the added components. I applied to Kingwood this past application period with an 11.5652 and got an alternate spot, competition was fierce. So, here I go again, hopefully I'll get in this time around. I'm really nervous about the A&P portion of the HESI. I feel like I've forgotten alot of what I learned. Any suggestions from anyone?

Good luck to all applying:)

I don't believe so because at the last info session they said they are hoping to eventually offer a Spring start program, but it all depends on their budget, and currently there are only enough instructors for the 40 or so slots they have each year for the ADN program. But they are accepting 130 applicants at NH this year, instead of the usual 110... An extra 20 slots is good news for all of us :D They're also finishing up the big remodeling of the new 45,000 sq. ft. Bldg. (behind NW Med Cntr.) for nursing students. It should have opened Fall 10 and again this semester but they never finish any construction projects on time. It is supposed to be very nice & ultra high tech with outlets at every seat in the lecture halls for laptops. Hopefully it will be through in time for the Fall admits .

You are right. I talk to mont. people today and they told me they are planning to increase the seats in future, but this year they have only 40 seats. They also told me that last year montgomery cutoff was 11.4 .

One of the ladies in the nursing department told me today that they may even take scores around 10 something because of the low scores this semester! She said usually there are around 800 applicants but due to the scores the applications are at around 500.

Given the increase in requirements this semester this could very well be a good thing for all that are applying!! Keep your head up friends... we will be excepted, pass and graduate together!!!! :)

You are so right....

No I have not applied anywhere else!! I know I should have but... I had pancreatitis the week I took my hesi and I am also taking Pharmacology so last week was a pretty stressful week!! Guess something I should get use to!! lol

Wow u have really had a stressful

Week... I took pharmacology and it can

Be very stressful but don't worry you will

Do fine.. Try not to stress..

i sure hope so! I took my hesi this past Monday and although I did well, I haven't completed all of my co-reqs. I talked to the advisor at NH today also who told me the same about not having as many applicants because they weren't passing the hesi. She also said that those who are passing it still aren't getting good grades on it. She said this was mainly at NH though. She told me that having an average in the 80's "says alot". and that this year's cutoff is going to be much lower than last year's 11.2. I sure hope so because I am applying with a 10.5. TxDiscoDiva also said she heard they are accepting 20 more students this year.

I am cautiously optimistic... and as plan B I'm going to apply to the lvn program too just incase.... as soon as I finish that program I just jump into the lvn-rn transition program and i'm good as gold :)

I sure hope we get in!!!

Thankyou stayfocus!!!! I love this site, it is nice to talk to people who are going though the same thing...:yeah:

I to thought about also applying for the LVN as a back up plan. My only worry is that if/when my GPA falls during the LVN that I might not make it into the bridge program!! Not really sure how all that works.... oh course my GPA right now is a 4.0 but I am not counting on that during the nursing process. I will be happy to learn and PASS!!

I just looked at their score chart for the transition program. It is similar to the score chart that we are using right now for the basic track. It doesn't say that extra points are added or deducted for overall gpa, just that a minimum gpa of 2.5 is required for the pre-reqs/co-reqs.

Did anyone make that FB page? I think the title of this thread says it all "2011 Lonestar College ADN Hopefuls"

The LVN program is a great idea but I

Think we all have good chances on getting

In to a ADN program... Let's just pray and

Keep our fingers crossed...
