Okay, for all of us that did not get into the Lone Star Fall 2010 program and are trying again for the Spring...here we go again.
I'm retaking AP2 this summer (I have a B so now I want an A) to increase my points. After that I just don't know what else to do because I have all co-reqs completed, CPR done and Immunizations done. What are your plans to increase your chances of getting in for the Spring?
Get the copy of the sample HESI book that's at the Lone Star library (I believe) and spend an hour looking at the English questions. That will help you on the English section...review fractions and decimals and the METRIC system (the basics of it) for the math. I took it last semester and only missed one. No idea about what to do for the new sections of the HESI that are needed. Good luck!!! Don't over think the questions.
Ok.. Well i am kinda scared as, I am reading some of the posts for the cut off. In terms of admission, I currently have 11.27 out of the 12 points. I scored ok on the hesi reading 90% and 95% on the math portion. Only reason why my points is low is because I got a B in psych since my professor was garbage...
My first choice is Cy fair. But i am willing to go anywhere haha.
Can anyone tell me if my score is good enough for me to Apply to the program and have a good chance of getting accepted?
Thanks in advance.
Hey it doesn't hurt to apply. The cutoff score for North Harris last year was 11.27. Your lucky that they took the reading part unlike this year which require English composite. I think you should take the class that you got a B in. Those 3 classes are very critical because it gives you 4 full points.
I seriously doubt that North Harris had 11.27 as a cutoff...........I had an 11.6 and applied to North Harris and Montgomery. Montgomery's low score was app. 11.7. I got into North Harris but I thought the lowest score was 11.4. I think Cy Fair and Kingwood have the lowest scores. BUT the Kingwood Quest program usually has a high cutoff.
You can check for yourself at north harris website. It states that the cutoff score for last year was 11.27. You also got in when they only counted the reading score and math as a tiebreaker. This year its totally different. They are using English Composite with AP and Math as tiebreaker.
I have a quick question. I am attending Austin Community College at the moment and am in my last semester of Pre-Requisites. At this college the nursing program adds on points if you do not get in the first time so that when you re-apply, you have a better chance the next time around. I wanted to apply to the nursing program in Kingwood because we will be moving to Houston but I only have B's in Eng, Psyc, and Biol. Do I have to re-take all of these and get A's to be admitted into the program? I took everything except for the Biol about 6 years ago so thought the B's would be fine but I see that those are used for the Pre-Requisites for Lonestar. Thought you guys could help since I have not been able to get to Houston to speak with a counselor yet. Thanks!

Hi, I am an alternate still hoping to get into Cy-fair for the Spring semester. I have finished my last prerequisite, Sociology. Does anyone here think I should submit this newest transcript quickly, or will it make any difference as to whether or not I am accepted? Thanks
