Lone Star Spring 2011

Okay, for all of us that did not get into the Lone Star Fall 2010 program and are trying again for the Spring...here we go again.

I'm retaking AP2 this summer (I have a B so now I want an A) to increase my points. After that I just don't know what else to do because I have all co-reqs completed, CPR done and Immunizations done. What are your plans to increase your chances of getting in for the Spring?

*Attention Kingwood Future nursing students*

I spoke with the administrative assistance at the Kingwood nursing department and we are NOT required to contact them to select a orientation session. Her specific response was "Just show up." I did confirm the date since there is a typo on the letter. The year listed on the letter is 2011 which we know is not correct.

Guys please prepare yourselves and your families for your time in nursing school. prepare now to have as much time as possible for school. Im doing pretty well and i can tell you majority of the ones who arent doing well are the ones who keep having family and work issues crop up. it doesnt do any good to sign up for this intense of a program then bring youre clinical group and yourself down due to inability to complete assignments and study for tests. Please dont be that person who doesnt contribute in study group because you never did the reading and dont know your stuff... there i vented,, i feel better now "back to doing the group research by myself" ugg.

I just got accepted to a program at Texas Women's University so I will be declining my offer at Lonestar-Kingwood which means that one of you lucky alternates will be getting my spot at Kingwood!!!!! :)

From next admission period, applicants will have to take HESI for Reading, Grammar, Vocabulary, Math and A&P. Also HESI will be valid for only one year. see the link

Isn't quest is only a LVN program?

That's never been true. Only Kingwood has it. Online courses replace lecture classes. Clinical rotations can be arranged to be on weekends. It's the best program for working students.

I have all my paperwork for admission. I have to get a second series of immunizations, and complete the background check. I have my appointments for next week set up. FYI if you have not done your physical yet you need to. There is a four week interval between vaccines if you need them. I went in two weeks ago and as it stands I wont finish everything until the week of Thanksgiving and that is cutting it awfully close to the Dec. 2 deadline for Cy Fair.

I have finished all my paperwork for admission, vaccines, and physical. I am getting my CPR certification tomorrow. I am planning to go Monday or Tuesday to get my background check. The only bad thing is there is a lot of alternates this semester and you cant find out were you stand on the alternate list. They have called one alternate in for the Spring Semester so far!! I am sure hoping that I get in this semester because I am spending a lot of money in hopes I will get accepted, and I dont want to retake the Hesi exam with the extra portions added on. All I can do is get my paperwork in and sit and wait.

I am one of the alternates hoping to get in this Spring. My score is 11.56. Any info on how many other alternates there are right now?

If we don't get in this Spring, do we start the process over for the Fall?

Which Campus are you an alternate, Cyfair or Kingwood? Im an alternate at Cyfair so I have a lot of information about the alternates at that campus, but I dont know anything about Kingwood.

Thanks for the quick reply. I too am applying for Cy-fair so that is helpful to know. I have completed everything on the check list except for the physical, and a few immunizations. Tuesday is my appt to take care of that, then I will go to Lone star to submit everything in person. Hope to see you in the Spring!

Any Kingwood alternates hear anything yet? They said they have called some alternates, but won't tell me where I am on the list:crying2: Would love to know if any of you have heard anything. I've turned in all my paper work (physical, background check, immunizations, cpr card) I wish I knew something, I need to know if I need to prepare myself to take the HESI with all the added components in January. I really don't want to:crying2:

songbird, I know exactly what your going through!!! It is so tough because they wont tell any of the alternates where we stand on the list. Im at Cyfair and I am losing my mind waiting :uhoh3:. I think that the alternates will get called up in December at both campuses. Im dreading that I might have to retake the Hesi again!!Keep me posted on any changes with you!!
