Lone Star Spring 2011

Published

Okay, for all of us that did not get into the Lone Star Fall 2010 program and are trying again for the Spring...here we go again.

I'm retaking AP2 this summer (I have a B so now I want an A) to increase my points. After that I just don't know what else to do because I have all co-reqs completed, CPR done and Immunizations done. What are your plans to increase your chances of getting in for the Spring?

Thank you, I will get in touch with her!:tku:

Hi everyone, are we getting the info on the background checks when we go to orientation or can we do them ahead of time. I hate waiting when I could just get it over with, and orientation is Dec. 2, so I already have plenty to do around the holidays. I read that some of you have already done them.

I think they are supposed to email us some places for us to go to that are approved by them. They are supposedly doing this soon... before our orientation. In my opinion I would wait to get the list of approved places, you wouldn't want to go somewhere and find out it is not approved by them.

I received a reply email from ***** ****** the nursing director at Kingwood. She said that we will be instructed where to go for background checks at the orientation.

per the terms of service of this site, please do not post names, initials, or contact information of professors or other school officials on the public board. it is better to communicate this type of information via the private message system. you will be able to send pm's once you have 15 posts.

as stated in the terms of service:

while it is important to be able to network, everyone should be mindful of the following:

  1. it is a small world - when we narrow it down to a state and throw in some personal info, there is actually a pretty good chance someone may recognize you if you are not careful. your privacy is paramount to us.
  2. while allnurses.com is a wonderful place to vent (without excess personally identifiable details) it is not the place to express why ("x" specific person, place or program) is terrible. gripe away, but since we cannot permit allegations to be made about named entities, your care in not naming them is very much appreciated.
  3. please do not give out personal information about others. do not name names where anyone could identify the person in any facility including your nursing programs.

the best to you! thank you for your cooperation.

Jpinkard said she had not sent in her info...was going to wait for Quest i think...so, I am assuming that meant she is giving up her spot.

Jpinkard? Is that right?

k

What is Quest? I keep hearing people talk about it, but I have no idea what it is.

Quest is a hybrid program. Hybrid means online and in person. The clinical portion is of course in person. Instead of lecture, you have online learning. It is possible to do the clinicals only on weekends, so people who must work often prefer Quest. Quest is only offered at Kingwood. It is currently on hold. It might resume next fall, but you should not take my word for it. You should check with the nursing department at Kingwood.

I didn't apply because Quest is on hold. Several others have done the same. We thought we were going to be able to start last August. Now we have to wait a year. The cutoff score for Quest could be higher than for the regular nursing programs.

ooops - maybe it wasn't jpinkard but jpchouston that I saw that didnt apply because they were waiting for quest.....anyway that post was way tooo far back to find it. All these confusing usernames?!?! lol

I just remember one of the Kingwood candidates saying that they didn't apply and then checking the list and they had been accepted so I assumed they would be giving up their spot. I probably have the whole thing confused...

Thanks for the info about Quest, it sounds like a good program. I think I would play to much if I only took online classes. I think I need to sit in lecture with my personality lol.

Isn't quest is only a LVN program?
