Okay, for all of us that did not get into the Lone Star Fall 2010 program and are trying again for the Spring...here we go again.
I'm retaking AP2 this summer (I have a B so now I want an A) to increase my points. After that I just don't know what else to do because I have all co-reqs completed, CPR done and Immunizations done. What are your plans to increase your chances of getting in for the Spring?
You can check for yourself at north harris website. It states that the cutoff score for last year was 11.27. You also got in when they only counted the reading score and math as a tiebreaker. This year its totally different. They are using English Composite with AP and Math as tiebreaker.
Clearly this is totally different because an 11.27 is LOW! The score is suppose to be a rough estimate of the success in the program. Hope that's not the case. Of course in a program that accepts 100ish students app. 15-20 students aren't around at semester 3. REality..

I am currently at Cy Fair campus for nursing. The cut offs for the spring was 11.65 something...11.27 is low. BUT if you are applying in the fall, there will be 5 campus's open and not everyone will be applying to Kingwood. The good thing is that the Hesi has changed as well, so all the people that can not pass A&P on the Hesi can not even apply to nursing. You might experience that the numbers will all be low for this coming fall application period. For Spring, Cy Fair had 600 applicants, and only 50 were selected; 2 have dropped as of now. Finals are next week; then we will see if anymore drop
Anybody with idea of Transition cut-off point for kingwood or Tomball?
Hi Everyone! I'm new to the forum. I spoke to the admissions director yesterday and she said last years cutoff (2010 Kingwood evening program) was 11.5. She advised me to re-take Psyc 2301 (I got a "B" in 2001). She also said everyone that got accepted had "4" points in the GPA section. I hope this help. The best advise is to retake pre-reqs and get "As" to get your 4 full points. I know HCC has mini session if anyone wants to get them out of the way. I'm shooting to apply for the Kingwood evening program for Spring 2012. Anyone else shooting for the same?

Yes, but also take into consideration that alot of people are failing the HESI this time around...the scores will be lower for Fall so it doesn't hurt to apply if you can't get the upgraded A that you want/need by the dead line.

Hi Ryan,
Can you please expand on this. This is news to me. . . are you saying the cutoff might be lower for Spring 2012?

I am not sure about Spring, but for Fall I would assume so. There are plently of people I know that have all A's and they did not pass the A&P portion of the HESI. IF you don't pass, you don't get in, even though the A&P portion is just a tie breaker, you still need to have at least a 70. There is also 5 campus's open in the fall, you will have maybe more applicants but you also have 5 campus's to choose from where as the spring you only have the 2 campus's and pretty mucht he same applicants...the odds for Fall are better because of the new A&P parts on the HESI...this is throwing everyone for a curve.

Thanks for the info, Ryan. I need to finish pre-reqs, so I won't be ready to apply for the Fall and will have to wait for Spring. Do you happen to know anything about the Quest (online program) at LSC-Kingwood? I heard they might cancel it; is that true?

it's a good idea to attend information sessions so that you can obtain official answers. here's the schedule: http://www.lonestar.edu/nursing-dept-kingwood.htm
here is the link to the quest program: http://www.lonestar.edu/16873.htm
It seems like everyone is having the same score. I notice that you, another person, and I have around the same score. I'm also nervous about it.
Hello everyone,I am applying at Lonestar NH for the fall and my score is 11.4 and I am still nervous about getting in..... Good Luck to everyone...

If the cutoffs are as low as 11.27 than of course you should be fine with B's as long as you can max out other areas. Of course a score of 11.27 might make you an alternate into the program which is not a good feeling.
