Lone Star Spring 2011

Published

Okay, for all of us that did not get into the Lone Star Fall 2010 program and are trying again for the Spring...here we go again.

I'm retaking AP2 this summer (I have a B so now I want an A) to increase my points. After that I just don't know what else to do because I have all co-reqs completed, CPR done and Immunizations done. What are your plans to increase your chances of getting in for the Spring?

To all of you going to CyFair, I have an off-topic question...Is there a difference between the subdivisions "Stonegate" and "Stone Creek"? I think we're getting a place in Stonegate but is this the same neighborhood?

:)

hello all i am new to this site. i have applied to lonestar cy-fair and i seem to be having the same questions and fears as many of you do. i have a 11.739 entrance score but still a little nervous with all these super scores posted here as well. i am also interested in how many have applied as well as how many will get in. i wonder if spring has less spaces available than fall? also the biggest question i have is where do cy fair nursing students do their clinicals? good luck to you all. i pray we all get in!

congragulations momof5kiddos!!!:yeah: :yeah::yeah:your score is excellent, just wait and see you will get your well deserved acceptance letter soon. as, far as the clinicals go it varies. i called the cyfair nursing dept and was told that clinical sites change with each enrollment period; it depends on thier contracts. hope we meet if i get accepted, and good luck with all your future endevours:d.

My sister-in-law, who is also holding out for Quest, missed only one question on the reading. She was planning on retaking one of her courses so she could have a 4.0 in the three courses, but now she's not. She's in that rare group who can afford a B. She is very happy with her score!

Speaking of the HESI, have you ever gone to the Evolve site to look at your scores? When you click the + sign, it provides links to the details on the individual sections. You click those links to find out what questions you missed. What confused me was that not all of the sections show the details. I was at a school and they wanted to look at my detailed scores. If you make a perfect score in a section, there isn't any detail you can drill down to. It just doesn't appear.

Stonegate and Stone Creek are two different communities. Stonegate is super close to the college and an excellent community while Stone Creek is further away and PARTS of it are nice.

Thank you Kyla.ann!! Just talked to the realtor and was told the same thing. We do not want anything where "parts" are nice!

I was thinking we could tell each other a little about ourselves while we wait for our letters to arrive! Many of us will be in the same class or clinical so it'll be a little heads up about some of our classmates!

I am 25 and have been married for 4 years. Although we are young we do not go out or drink at all and love to attend church. I am currently a SAHM and I have a 16 month old daughter and a 25 day old son. I'd like to have at least two more children. I am can be socially awkward and introverted so some people think I'm being mean but it's really that I'm nervous lol

I hope to work in a level 3 or 4 NICU someday, I've volunteered in the NICU at the University Of Chicago Children's hospital to try and get some "experience" in that type of surrounding.

Thanks! I guess I just need to have patience. Hoping (but will be happy with anything of course!) that is it closer to my home by 249/1960 area. Have a great holiday weekend.

Hahaha. I was speaking of clinicals in my previous post, in reply to Bugalove. I am new to this site and will take a little time to get used to postings. Sorry... When I completed my HESI at Cy Fair I walked over and spoke with the nursing office, very excited with my score, but was informed that it all depends on my competition if that is a good score or not. I asked about previous cut-offs and was told they do not matter at all, it all depends on your compettion...that is when I started to worry. :uhoh3: I will be fine though, if I do not get in I will continue to take class towards a bachelor's.

No problem. We actually live in Stonegate and my MIL lives in Stone Creek. :)

Something about me? Hmmm....well, I am 28 (almost 29 YIKES!), I have two crazy little girls, oldest being 6 almost 7 and the youngest just turned 2. My husband and I have been married for 8 1/2 years and were actually high school sweethearts. I would love to have another child but the hubby is happy with the two we have. (I'm still working on him, maybe once I am finished with school he will change his mind) He is a volunteer firefighter for Cy-Fair VFD and I just recently quit my full time job which I had been at for 6+ years. I just finished up my CNA class and am waiting to take the state exam. I hope to be able to work as a CNA through NS, preferably in a hospital but we all know how that goes...

I'm a HUGE introvert and come across much the same way you do bugalove. I get pretty anxious in unfamiliar settings but am working on overcoming that. I tend to be labeled the b!tch because I get so uncomfortable and don't really talk much.

I am pretty interested in Forensic Nursing or Flight Nursing but I know that there are TONS of options out there so I am keeping my mind open to anything really.

I asked about previous cut-offs and was told they do not matter at all, it all depends on your compettion...that is when I started to worry.

Worrying is a bad thing that doesn't accomplish anything. The odds are in strongly your favor and you should relax. Realistically, in a few months, you won't have time to do that!

Hello! I applied at Kingwood with a score of 11.7932. I am really hoping for a letter, but if not I'll work for my bachelors and will try for UTMB next fall.

A little about me: I am 35 and worked in mortgage industry with no personal satisfaction for years. I decided to scrap the $$ and go back to school and I still feel it was the best choice of my life. I am married and live in The Woodlands with my husband. We don't have children together, but my husband has an 8 yr old from a previous relationship that I adore as my own. I'm a nerd through and through, but I like people and don't get too shy unless I feel intimidated. My ultimate goal is to get my masters and maybe be a NP or even a CRNA, but my future and options are fluid so that could easily change.

Really looking forward to the future with my fellow applicants! Good luck to everyone!!!!!:yeah:
